Surprisingly nice aftermarket Smurf insert

Ok so I got it back on, but I did something wrong because now it is nearly impossible to turn hahahaha. Anyhow it is on and wearable again until I send it to a modder to fix one day haha

You probably put the nylon ring in the wrong way. It usually has some sort of T shape and should fit inside the inner groove the bezel has (or it’s totally busted and you need a new one, ha).

Mine arrived and they seem great - certainly comparable to the insert I replaced. I've put the blue on a Noob v8s - just a straight swap. Getting the bezel off was an interesting experience as it took the crystal off too and had to reseat everything. Those springs are a nightmare to find in the carpet! Fitting the retaining ring so it sat flush to the case also a challenge as my crystal press didn't seem to want to push it the last mm. Colour is a little darker than pictures seem to show.

I think you are missing the white nylon ring that goes inside the bezel. I guess that it goes in easy and falls easy as well, right? You will need to either find that ring or buy a new one.

Gasket is there it is just stuck on the retainer ring around the crystal - reinstall in the bezel and you should be good to go

Guys keep your thumb on the crystal while prying the bezel up and it won't come off.

Had to use some fishline to replace my aged hytrel ring, which had been used about a dozen times.

0.56, 0.61, or 0.64mm fishline are the only 3 sizes I've ever used. A worn hytrel ring will create a loose bezel side to side, bezel gaps to the case, or rocking and wobbling top to bottom. If trying fishline, start too small and work up to next size. On this one, 0.61 was too small and 0.64 was too big so I sanded the 0.64 diameter along its length a little and it snap seated home. Hugs the case nicely and is a little firm rotating but I'll take that over loose every time.

Hey guys, I search for and buy inserts regularly and I found one that's very good for the price so I thought I would share it here. Most aftermarket inserts come with white marker fill and bad pearls so I was pleasantly surprised to get this one.

If you need a replacement Smurf insert or just want to make your own Blueberry Sub, this insert is useable OOTB. Very close in quality to what you would get on a factory rep. Goes to show how much these inserts are really worth, when a profit is still made selling this for $14. Pearl cup is shaped reasonably well, it has the double stack look.

Lume is slightly more blue than these hands I just re-lumed with BGW9. I was never one to sweat this detail too much, YMMV.

If you have your original pearl, you could swap it into one if these aftermarket LV inserts for an even better result.
