Super Rep: V 7F Portofino '150 Years Anniversary'

Here's the latest Super Rep to get added to my collection. The RWI Forum Consensual Super Rep List does not disappoint. It's truly a gift that keeps on giving.

IWC Portofino '150 Years Anniversary' from V7F is absolutely immaculate. I love everything about it... except the strap. This leather strap is garbage. I will buy a gen Santoni alligator strap worthy of a Super Rep.

V7F offers two movement versions:
(1) Asia clone A2892 movement for $338
(2) Swiss ETA2892 movement for $558

What I have here is the Swiss $558 option. Even though it's marketed as 'Swiss ETA2892', the movement inside is actually not ETA. It's actually Swiss-made Sellita SW300. Yes, I've talked about this little substitution trickery by V7F before in my other thread, but it must be mentioned again.

These V7F IWC super reps are unbelievable. Side by side, more or less the only difference is that V7's AR coating is a bit better than IWC's. It only reflects a light violet, rather than a pretty significant indigo. I think that's a good thing on this watch, but it does make the black dial models look a bit less "cool" (even if it makes them more readable )

I sat down for a bit with the gen. IME in that lighting, you'd struggle to read the dial on the gen because the blue reflection from the window would be too bright. I genuinely think that the rep is a bit better of a watch in terms of everyday usability.

I went for the regular SS on white portofino, which is NOT a super rep (font mistake and some marker QC issues I approved knowing I'd swap the dial) but still easily NWBIG because V7's build quality is ridiculous. Lovely finishing on the hands, great polish, tremendous construction. Clearly delineated positions on the crown even on the Asian movement, and the date wheel alignment is perfect on every number but 29, where it's left aligned so slightly you can barely notice on macro. I'm just going to swap the dial out for a gen and I couldn't be happier.

I have seen that I now release a ZF model, is it as good as the V7F?

Normally ZF, being that their secret identity is (allegedly) a jewelry factory, has better metalworking than other factories, but V7's is really good. Coupled with the fact that the V7 has a more accurate movement AND excellent build quality, not really.

Such a beautiful watch! I'm looking at getting the same one. Did you already change the leather strap on yours?

Way lovelier watch than all the Submariner reps IMHO!
Are the straps on the watch okayish or something you have to change?
Just asking because the straps on the original ones are mostly pretty good whereas my experience with rep straps is meh.

I have the 150 years edition too and i must say V7F's finish is crazy good. It's a very good "under the radar" dress watch, which easily fits under a cuffed shirt. BTW the Gen has also the Sellita SW300, but you can go with the Seagull clone

Is the crystal sapphire? I dont think so crystal gen like?

Looks absolutely top-notch! I’ve got my eye on the more affordable version, but this one is really impressive. Thanks for sharing!
