The 979 I find easier to pair with a strap though, it's the pesky green machine 961 that I find troublesome.

Nope, the yellowish acid green one, which hurts the eyes, is the rep.
The darker one, which is pleasing the eyes, is gen.

979 is my favourite watch for the summer.
So far I have a black and white gen. rubber strap for the 979 and military green gen one for the 961.

I have stingray straps for carbotech watches, too. They do look great but are trying to kind of “win” over the watch itself and therefore - are less great than ostrich in this case.
I have tried many strap options and the best choice was custom ostrich leg strap:
Straps look great on both but 389 the better combo of the two!

I just posted this in the wristies thread. But now that this is a strap recommendation thread....
I had an image of this strap and then I sent a description to every strap makeer I knew and they all said "can't be done. I found it on corriga. For like $285. Ridiculous but I was tempted.
I finally found a strap maker willing to give it a shot and made be 2.
They work great with the blue models. I use it for the 799, the 1617 and the 985 but would look great on a few others.
Here it is on a few if those models.
