What kind of technique did you use for filing? Did you just go straight up and down with the flat file, evenly across the flanks? Did you use like a marker or tape as a guideline or did you just purely eyeball it?

I went at it from the top side (sideways) rather then up and down.

I eyeballs this one yes. But it would be better to make some markings for guidelines. It's what I did for my 2nd attempt at slimming case lugs.
