Hiya!

As promised in my personal collection thread here: https://forum.replica-watch.info/fo...0224-my-personal-collection-of-modded-ap-roos

Here's a short and simple comparison of the Spongebob thinned case mod. Here are the measurements of the JF AP cases for the original replica, franken, and my two Panda and Navy cases done by Spongebob.

Disclaimer: I did not attempt to remove the crystal and bezel to make an actual measurement of the midcase and caseback. So the way the crystals are installed may affect the final measurements.

1. 42mm JF Panda unmodded replica. Thickness is 15.2mm.

2. Franken 42mm Safari. Thickness is 14.8mm.

3. Thinned 42mm JF Panda. Thickness is 14.5mm.

4. Thinned 42mm JF Navy. Thickness is 14.4mm.

So there you go. The differences in thickness between the original and modded cases. Visually on its own, you can see that the caseback was thinned. When compared side by side with the original rep, it's clear that both the midcase and caseback were thinned.

It may not appeal to everyone but I think it's great that Spongebob managed to thin the case to such an extent, while still keeping the A7750 movement. Kudos to him!

I tried, but it varies quite a bit from different points, probably due to the lack of measurable space to capture properly. Thus I didn't feel it was right to publish here.

I have been asking all over the place about how much this mod costs and even who is spongebob but it seems to be top secret stuff

When I first joined the forum, I thought the same way. WTH is 1mm , why everyone so anal about this thickness.
But after few watches, I now see why everyone is anal. It feels better on your wrist, and slides easier into your cuffed shirt.
After all the time you have spent on the forum, i'm bit surprised and jealous that you aren't anally retentive about it..
with that said, I can't wait to get my AP thinned out.

Thinning the FC case would probably be possible, but the problem with the 44mm is the crystal caseback and movement deco, so you can't go thinner without swapping it out.

You'd be surprised how such a supposedly minor level of thinning can do wonders in terms of the feel and look of watch when you look at it from the side sitting on your wrist...

However, this is currently only applicable to 42mm covered casebacks..
