My watch is with Spongebob since November and I will say he did not ask for money up front, I believe him to be a honest and genuine person who is also a family man so can appreciate he is busy, hopefully he can provide an update soon.

I don't believe anyone's trying to say that he's outright scamming or anything of the sort. The problem is the extremely long lead times and now what appears to be virtually non-existent communication. It's a poor business practice to take on more work than you can handle and then continue to take work. If you're running 4 to 6 months behind, temporarily stop taking new pieces until you can catch up on what you currently have.

i can totally relate here! its like your practically giving your hard earned money away! constant following up is so stressful and eventually takes an emotional toll! especially for peeps like me who have ocd:) remember folks we are paying for a service not a favor. we dont owe anything to these modders!

mods take a look into this guy, he should be held accountable and be responsible enough to reply to his customers.

The silence is very tellling. He was informed of this thread and more then a week has passed without any attempt to quell people's concerns publically. Unfortunately the staff here can only do so much as he's not a vendor on this site.

So far, none of the watchmakers/modders who have agreed to take on a project for me have been long in delivering, non communicative, or taken money up front. I personally consider taking up front payment for more than materials (depending on request) as a red flag.
Who else would you recommend?

My experience here with modders is regular... I have used 3, and the only one who meets deadlines and has a fluid communication is @drvintage

I was personally very disappointed by a modder (I will not name), not with his work which is very good but because he does not meet deadlines, not to mention the protection to a 450 € dial that arrived in bad condition for not using a damn specific box for dials, and is solved with a “sorry”, but you know... people get famous and then do what they want, is life itself.

Their is a modder I would not mention too, who has very good work but has a rather strange attitude / personality. Got famous and feels like he is doing you a favor even if you pay him. I asked an update once and I got an essay telling me to respect his time frame and he will contact me once ready and not when I ask.. its bizzare. You then have to accept everything as he has your money and watch.

I never understand not naming, baffles me.

Feedback is valid if it is truthful and accurate, the facts are the facts, the truth irrefutable - why half say something.

By not naming & shaming, these modders/watchsmiths are placed on pedestals, free to behave the same way to others, with members afraid to say a word.

And members then wonder why these types of members end up with special banners, some of them inmates of The Brig....

To copy a mate of mines thoughts on a separate matter ...

Already named @Spongebob and no explanation has been given.
He will continue to take assignments and maybe someday big problems will arise.

haha.. i know exactly who you are talking about. One watch was enough for me, never again.

Also his work is not amazing, my 5711's crown was filed down roughly and it has gaps when tighten, but I couldn't tell at the time as there were limited non close up photos provided. He threw a tantrum when I had mentioned I had forwarded those photos it to a friend to double check my findings (i was doubting myself). where then I was told the photos were for myself only and shouldn't be shared with anyone???

There's a sub reddit on him, our experience is not unique...

TBH.. unless is a throw away account like reddit, a lot of us don't wanna risk being banned or annoy the mods. Ironically reddit is more free to discuss topics like this.

I know exactly who this is too. I have had the exact same experience. They have your watch and money so you are at their whim.
