But my doubt is, this man is not on the forum and connects regularly, he does not have a second to answer the customer?

It seems like a diva attitude to me...I think these things should always be posted.

Maybe that mystic attitude raises the price? Anyway
But he's on here, let me tag him right here @Spongebob

I have messaged him about this thread and he had replied to me. I had told him to reply here.
What was his reply? I thought about doing a 5711 build with SpongeBob, but then I found this thread. It's completely turned me off from committing.

I've had 3 builds with Spongebob, and for my 50 cents worth... I'd never do it again.
Builds are fine, but if you have any problems... it's almost like you're shit out of luck.

That said, credit to him, he did fix my issue by sending a new movement, but I had to badger and pester him over the course of 5-6 months, a message once or twice a week... eventually he dispatched the part and hey-presto, I sent it to a UK modder reputable here and was fixed within 2 days...

But the whole experience ruined the watch, it's why I sold my 5711. It worked perfectly, but the whole experience was tainted. What should have been an easy 2-3 months.... was a nightmare 8+ months. In the end I sold it on here... and lost some money but was happy to be rid of it. (It worked perfectly and new owner was very happy)

I'm not the type of person to message someone daily, or expect a reply within a few hours even... but when you've sent a message and he hasn't even read it on whatsapp in 2 weeks you start to feel a bit ignored.

He never scammed me and in the end I got everything I paid for. However, it was a complete ball ache and I will never repeat that again.
I couldn't possibly in good conscious recommend him to anyone purely because of the aggravation, it isn't worth the grey hairs!

I doubt he's scammed you, he's a good guy, but zero points for communication, that said your timescales are quite excessive.

did he happen to mention what year on Feb 5th? This is unacceptable. Why do these guys take on more work then they can handle in a reasonable time frame? I'd much rather be told my place in line and when it's my turn send everything in vs send everything in and wait a year or more. Personally the passion for most builds would have long left me by then.

I was being sarcastic. This is becoming a reoccuring theme with a few of these highly hyped modders. They take on more then they can do then the quality of the work nosedives as the push out the pieces to catch up. I'm sorry for you and everyone who is sitting waiting for their pieces to be completed.

lol I feel like an idiot, sent him a deposit for a 5167 build and he said it would be ready by April.

More like April 2026…

Modder builds up reputation for quality work on builds, members hype him up as the "best ever", "Spongebob builds can't compare", "CNC work is immaculate", they get more and more orders, accept everything, then either the timeline becomes really long, or the quality of work goes down.

It's sad but being here only 2 years we've seen multiple modders fall to this. And then the history of RWI... seeing old names have a "DO NOT TRADE" or "Banned" in their threads talking about their work.....

So far, none of the watchmakers/modders who have agreed to take on a project for me have been long in delivering, non communicative, or taken money up front. I personally consider taking up front payment for more than materials (depending on request) as a red flag.
