I just bought a 359 from Kuvarsit and it looks very good, the problem is that it sounds like something is loose in it, even when i tapp gently at the watch, and it sounds very loud even when i wear it, this can not be right, it takes the edge off the rest of the watch is so nice, so much that I do not want to wear it

Its a A7750 movement with a faux tin plate decoration screwed on the rear to make it look like a P9000 movement.

The noise of the auto-winder on my PAM356 was annoying me. I followed the instructions from the link above and it didn't work quite as expected. About 20 tiny pieces of my watch popped out, the center second hand is just flopping in the breeze, and I don't think the stop watch is working at all. ARRRGGH!

On the bright side, the watch seems to wind and keeps time.

Hi. Today I got my first PAM. It's a noob 299o. It looks perfect. AMAZING. However, when I shake it it really does sound like a baby rattle. REALLY LOUD.... Is this normal or should I ask my TD for a replacement????

Thanks....

Have a watchsmith look at it. The rotor may have become loose inside. Take care not to lose the screw.

Is this a simple quick job for a locksmith or is it complicated ?

You could try a locksmith, Pauly, but Id probably stick with a watchsmith just to be on the safe side :)

It all depends, if you open it up and the rotor and rotor screw fall out, it wouldnt be that hard to put it back on. But if you open it and all is well... to get it to be less noisy you probably need a service, tightening and oiling etc to reduce rattling.

The 7750 is known to be noisy, you might just be hearing the normal sounds. My 196 with a 7753 is pretty loud, but i have a 21j that makes it look silent.

Are you shaking it off the wrist when you are noticing the noise? Its not the buckle rattling is it? Just checking.

I've got to ask, Do you guys complaining actually hear this noise while wearing the watch on your wrist or are you holding it up to your ear and shaking it?

On your wrist, the rotor should only be moving in small increments, maybe a 90 to 180 degree arc as your arm moves. Hardly enough to make noise assuming the rotor isn't actually broken or loose and scraping against the movement or case back. After owning around 40 reps, I've still never heard a rotor noise while wearing a watch in a normal every day movement.

This is very noisy. The noise is internal (ie, not the bracelet).

It is so noisy that bringing my arm up from my waist to my ear or bringing it down again, even slowly, makes enough of a rattle for my wife to hear it when she is several meters away...

Seems wrong to me but I'm no expert. My Omega PO is virtually silent so that's all I have to compare this with.

That's weird. I'd like to see and hear one of these in person and look at the insides. It doesn't seem totally logical knowing how the auto wind works. It almost must be scraping on something.

I'll post pics if I get it opened up. I need to find a friendly WATCHsmith in Melbourne...

I have owned both rep and gen Panerai 7750. They both have noisey rotors and exhibit the hallmark "rotor wobble": when the auto wind mechanism suddenly reverses and spins 10+ times. The rep is only slightly more noisey than the gen, but this can be improved with a drop of oil.

I think you're right, something doesnt sound right with the OPs description, especially the "baby rattle" part. What the OP is describing sounds like a loose screw or movement tab.

I totally understand about how it works when the rotor unwinds and spins. That's when one of the winding gears in the auto wind module isn't working properly. Just like TC's latest problem with his batch of 2824-2 movements. But this kind of sounds like a different problem when it happens all the time while wearing it and just having the normal wrist movement. Just doesn't make much sense unless you younger people have much better hearing than us older guys.

Maybe it's the same frequency as my ex-wifes voice. I learned how to tune that out at an early age.
