Ok, let me make sure I understand; when you put “A111” or “J913”, “C290”, etc, that’s the factory name? Is it just that these are factories that aren’t commonly discussed in RWI, and that’s why I don’t recognize them? But this particular Breitling is of unknown or forgotten origin?

I’m not questioning what you do, I think what you do here is great and serves a market that hasn’t been covered in the 10 years that I’ve been a member. I just know what I read here and in other forums. For many of us, knowing the manufacturer or factory helps us decide on whether or not a particular watch is appropriate for our individual needs. Some may be looking for a parts watch, a movement, the base for a project, while others may be looking for a low cost alternative that needs minor repairs.

But even in the case of repairs, knowing what we’re dealing with is extremely important, as some watches may not have the needed repair parts available at all. It also helps us identify common problems across the various factories. For example, if a watch you’re selling has a slipping date wheel, and “Factory X” is known to have this problem and there’s a simple fix for this which can be found in the forum, it could be a great buy/investment for those with the ability and tools to perform the repair, and obtain a watch for a fraction of the normal cost. If all we know is that it’s a Rolex rep with an Asian movement, we don’t know what we’re facing before we pay for it and it arrives.

I hope I make sense, and again I am only trying to clarify for my own knowledge, as well as the forum as a whole.
