Jetmid was a high power individual. He had his own private jet staffed by a harem of ******* who would change out his gen watches on command. He was married to a well known supermodel.

It was great to be him..............

I wish I could point you at the JetMid post but unfortunatly it went down with the origenal version of RWG1 and the folk with the keys don't appear to want to hand 'em over. Just one of thousands of great posts at the old place that are lost forever.

Funnily it's the JetMid and TRL posts that seem to be missed most, not all the equaly iriplacable tech stuff.

If it's true that A7750's will soon be graded and sold accordingly, that's not good news for rep factories or dealers. Personally, I wouldn't pay more than what I'm willing to pay today for a rep and I'm sure many others feel the same way. That means that I would expect all my reps to have a grade A movement at today's prices. And, that also means that anything less than a grade A movement would have to cost much less.

As it stands now, many rep buyers seem to be willing to overlook defects that they would not even ignore in cheaper watches, like Casios. I guess they're so forgiving because they assume manufacturers are unable to implement quality control measures. But once QC programs are implemented, the bad movements will be priced much lower and the customers' tolerance for defects or problems will be considerably lower. So, I'm not so sure the Chinese really want to go that route. Let's face it; how many are willing to pay $500 to $700 for a rep with a grade A Asian 7750 when they can buy a Swiss 7750 for $350 or $400 in the US?

The point that has been made here and elsewhere, I'm sure, is that if the spread between reps and gens gets much closer than it is now, the gens will prevail. Take the Swatch Group's stable of mid-range brands like Hamilton (my fave), Omega and Tissot. The Hamilton watch that I just bought houses a Valjoux 7750 at a cost below $700. Same with Tissot. A Swiss branded watch with Swiss quality components that may very well be assembled in China. Ti case and bracelet, sapphire, factory warranty, AD support, etc. Do the math, make your own decision, of course.
