Put it in the dish washer

Leaving the strap in the sunshine all day is good, the UV light takes care of it;
Packing into baking soda and wrapping it up with cellophane film helps (but takes time: week or month).

I take them off and scrub them with liquid dish soap and warm water. It eats away the oils from your skin that have transferred over.

That's the problem with rubber straps. It doesn't happen with leather because that breathes properly.

i thought leather straps are worse off?
Not in my experience. The rubber ones, if for example you have a damp wrist after washing your hands, tend to rapidly breed some sort of bacteria in the enclosed, non absorbant space and seem to start smelling unpleasant unless you frequently clean them. Leather ones seem to be able to absorb better: they do develop a smell, but it's not an unpleasant one. Of course bracelets don't absorb anything, unless you count inside the joints!

Funnily enough my Gen 44 rubber strap stinks in bad weather and my rep rubbers don't smell at all ..... Was seriously thinking about trying to put the rep strap on my Gen this summer , the smell was that bad ....

Have you tried washing it with hot soapy water before asking here?

That would be the normal course of action for most people in the world.

yep i did.. it does work abit by reducing the smell, but problem came back during next wear..

Does anyone have experience washing it in soapy water with an ultrasonic cleaner? Works for bracelets but haven't tried it with rubber before, not sure if it will be damaged.

I Treat my rubber straps like clothes.

Wash regularly (or as required) with hot soapy water (antibacterial soapy hand wash) and make sure it is fully dry before wearing.

Ofcourse odour will return eventually.
