i've nv opened my watches for oiling before.. what i usually do is wind up the crown abt 20-30 times and observe the power reserve for a day or 2.. according to fakey, the norm would be 40-42 hours.. as long as you are comfortable with it, it's fine..

go see fakey's article on winders for some info on winding: viewtopic.php?f=206&t=48159

& if you really wanna open it up for oiling, go see this: viewtopic.php?f=206&t=43232

i've oiled my noob-sub's bracelet before tho.. makes it a little smoother.. :D

speaking of which, my noob-sub does have some issues.. stops at 8+pm every day, but u set the time past 10 and it runs again.. anyone knows a rep-friendly watchsmith?

Hey I am planning to get a rep soon with Asian 21 automatic movement (I think), do I need to do anything prior to using the watch?

Besides resizing and oiling the bracelet, just wear it and enjoy. :D

Could you teach me how to oil my bracelet? Recently bought a Omega seamaster... awesome watch!

Hi everyone!

Not living in Singapore at the moment :( but loved the place when I was there - admittedly only a brief stop over but would love to go back. My mum's originally from pulau bukom, married my dad who was in the RAF and they settled here in the UK.

Had a nice chat and meeting with alvinado....
Bought a DSSD from him and had a really nice time chatting.

After being out of the rep "circle" for quite a while, I couldn't resist coming back as the lure of DSSD was too strong.
I'm actually quite suprised the distance that quality of rep, i.e. details, has improved since the last 2~3 years.
I can remember the "good" old days when one had to spend at least 20~50 hours to make a submariner decent.

HOWEVER... the DSSD was a disappointment after 4~5 hours... It's true that dealers are paying more attention to details. BUT they are still not doing enough to improve the build and assembly, i.e. welding/soldering, glueing, etc.
After 4~5 hours of normal wear in Orchard Road (shopping with my wife, lunch and walking from mall to mall),
1) the bracelet failed (welding between links and clasp), watch drop and... deep dings and scratches
2) pearl popped out for no reason (must be the drop)... lucky it landed on my lap while I was having dinner...

BUT I have to say that these are not alvinado's fault, I examine the watch prior to purchase...

Anyway, these issues serve a huge reminder to why I backed away from rep and ventured into the world of gen.
Time vs money vs frustration vs stress... I'm not that young and my heart and blood pressure can't take all that....

But, I have to say that meeting up with alvinado was interesting and he's one of the most earnest and down-to-earth rep guy I know...

Dude, it's a pleasure! :D

Edit: Mis-spell...
