I'm looking to commission a PAM with a Radium burnt dial and would like to see some examples. I have seen some of Black Sharks and Pratts work, Difficult I think I like circles in gradation from light to almost dark. Anyone seen anything extra cool?

Thank You in Advance

Let me put on my lead suit and get my geiger counter and check my basement. They are in a metal trunk somewhere.

That's not Radium burn^^

I suppose it is not the traditional rings. I will try to make up a word for it. It might be a bit hard to tell, but it goes light in the middle and dark to the edge.

Pratt has been doing that i'm looking for the more traditional burn circles, I will upload some examples of Black_Sharks work and a few other cool ones I found by using the magic "SEARCH" button, I guess I should check out homage forum and Rep Geek and RWG

An example of a dial mistaken for Radium burn. Not so. It is simply 'old age' and deterioration by the elements : http://www.grafichouse.co.uk/forum_pics/small_eg_dials1.jpg ..........and true Radium burn : http://www.10pastten.com/flyingbird/resources/horological/detaildial.jpg .........another example of true Radium burn : http://s613.photobucket.com/user/Adam4170/media/IMGP6169.jpg.html ......... Note, a messed up old looking dial is not always Radium burned. It is simply old and had a rough life. Radium burns have a tell-tale pattern of 'radiating into the dial' for long periods of time. And the patterns imprinted on the dial fall exactly where the Radium was in close proximity. On the indices AND the hands. ..................... Feel the burn !!! Lol !! Oh, for a time in Switzerland, they actually had Radium infused toothpaste !! Made your teeth glow in the dark after brushing ! http://www.klar-schweiz.com/cms/images/stories/klara/doramad.jpg

If the movement had stopped with the hands in one position for years, radium burns develop directly under the hands. But if the watch kept running for 60-70 years and hands kept moving radium burns will develop a radial pattern. At least that's what I heard, and there are different opinions among the experts.
In any case here a couple of pics for Thrasher:

Great examples of Radium burn circles above. Only time and continuous movement can achieve these patterns. If anyone can 'emulate' these very distinctive patterns in a Rep., my hat goes out to you ! You are a true master and a great asset to our community !!

I will probably go with the radial burns by black_shark, if its accurate or not I think it looks cool and thats all that matters.

I would appreciate any further info or examples.

Thank You

Very Excited @black_shark is ready to build and he really has made this a great experience with his knowledge and patience while I went through every particular aspect of this build.

Great choice ...that should look awesome when finished.
I like the subtlety of the dial aging.

I have seen some buckles somewhere that have a narwahl on them which would look great with that combo.

Wear it with pride and in good health and don't forget to post the pics.

edit: search trandafil1972 on fleabay for the buckle
