just to clear up the medication thing,
Health insurance covers most things such as ER visits (health insurance is mandatory) but i am not sure about prescription drugs.
Also it could vary from Kanton to Kanton, as the swiss system is very decentralised but is rather governed in provinces.

sure, but you also can buy health insurance in the USA, in Cambodia, where you want. It's not free, you've to pay for it, that's the point.

Sorry, I know we're digressing but I just had to clarify with a quick response... First, not all health care in Cuba is "free". Some things are still paid for by the patient. Secondly, I don't need to tell you what Cuban nationals have to give up for such health care system. While social services are not taxed, there are other significant costs, both direct and indirect, which have been well documented (and I invite you to do some reading in the area; it's certainly not as good as it sounds and it verges on scary). Third, the basic Krankenkasse is compulsory in Switzerland. It can't be compared to private insurance. And though the costs are high, they're offset by typically low tax rates, unlike in the UK, for example. So I guess an argument about what's free or not is merely a questions of semantics. LOL, I guess there's no such thing as a free lunch. Not in Cuba, not in Switzerland... Anyway, apologies for derailing the thread....

Switzerland is absolutely capitalist. For free medicine, you have to live in Cuba xD

GS

in UK & Australia you also have to pay. Only in Cuba and some few other nations it's for free.

but that's very off-topic, hehe

GS

Sorry to burst your bubble pal, but in Cuba you HAVE to pay for the prescription and non-prescription medications. Doctor and hospitals visits are free of charge, but the care quality offered to cuban nationals leaves much to be desired. If Cubans had to pay for their medical health services, it will have to come out from their US$12.00 MONTHLY salaries. Rooster133 is correct, I lived for many years in Cuba and most of the stories you hear are from pure communist propaganda.

Anyway... time to keep talking about watches... LOL

that's true, I don't believe communist... and capitalist - propaganda ;-) or who have made cuba so poor? in which poor country like cuba you get such healthcare for free?

but don't talk more about that. this is a thread about swiss customs, not about healthcare. xD if someone want to speak with me about that -> PM.

GS

and now post something about SWISS CUSTOMS,
haha
