Seiko Alpinist Sarb017

Finally bought my first seiko!!! Pulled the trigger today and should get here in a few days

However every single review i have read about this watch is perfect except for the strap... The strap is worst than rep straps im assuming because people really really hate it!

To this day i can't choose a strap for my blue dial omega!


This one is green so even harder!!!!

Any strap options? I wanna buy one so it arrives with the watch

The Sarb line is great. You might like this video too. I actually like the strap that he chose for it.

The sarb line is the most value for money watch from the seiko line when it comes to a dress piece. I particularly like the 017 due to its uniqueness. You could consider a suede strap to match the numerals, beige cream would be a nice color. You can get them cheap at cheapnatostraps

@thelittleprince Is the strap why you were interested in @Daft_Punk's in the dress watch thread? If so, I think I have a 20mm grey minimalist strap like the one you liked.

I have the same watch. And the strap is like card board.... I suggest you source a bracelet or a nice horween strap to go with it

been eyeing that bad boy for a while but I have not pulled the trigger yet because I really don't know how the green dial is going to wear!
I think you're gonna want very dark, earthy tones to compliment it. Maybe something like this leather nato?

Will definitely update for sure!!! Probably a small review is in order because i couldn't find anything about the alpanist here on rwi!

Yes thats actually why i was asking!! Im very bad at pairing my watches with straps to be completely honest! Never know whats good or not, i always resort to a simple black strap! With the dial being green, i know theres no way ill be able to figure out what would be ideal for it! Could you sent me pics of the strap you've got?

Go for it!!! They are getting more and more expensive on the market! I saw one for 700 and another for 900 on ebay!!

I will check out horween, the bracelet is very expensive for this peice tho i would love it! I would have yo see the watch first before i decide if the 150$ bracelet is worth it

I have never owned a sarb, its my very first seiko and im excited to see if it lives up to its hype! The green really is unique, thats actually why i choose it over the 033!

I only have 3 other watches, 3 different complications and 3 different dial colors!

Moonphase white dial "Frederique Constant", Chronograph blue dial "Omega JDM" and diver black dial "Christopher ward vintage 38mm"

So this one is a great addition being that it has a different dial color and function!

Just have to wait until you find a good deal and prices coming back down to where they should be.

Using "secondhander" is a good way to find out the actual value of a watch. It keeps count of when a specific watch was bought and for how much. Very neat to figure out if you should be paying so much for a watch that typically sells for much less.

Great choice imho, I´ve been eyeing this in the past.
Get a brown, smooth leather NATO from cheapestnato...., maybe another khaki coloured Nato as well (green military camouflage should look good, but not for the office) and a black croco or calfskin croco. These would be my first choices, it all comes down to how much You want to spend and in what setting You´re using this japanese Explorer.
