Would this be a good reason not to buy any 7750 movement with seconds at 6 or 12? From what I read it is not worth the roll of the dice. Especially with reps getting over the $400 price range

Well, if you want an AP you really dont have a choice if you want accuracy. For me, the Portuguese and Ingy chronos and Daytonas are off limits for the most part, unless a supurb deal were to come up.

Im glad this thread still gets hits. Makes me feel useful. Thanks guys.

You saved me hundreds of dollars on a Daytona.....Looking for a completely operational quartz with seconds at 6 if possible. Homey won;t buy a 7750 in anything even if it had 300 jewels

Great post. So the 29j is actualy a 29j? I have seen other posts where they claim this was not true and the new modifications were only to skeletonize the gears. But if those are indeed new jewels I'm very happy to hear as I have 2 daytonas with the newer 29j movement. Also, they have better power reserve than my 2836 watches and actualy keep better time. I'm lucky I guess.

Some of the trouble is these watches and movements tend to get grouped into one thing, as opposed to specific movement ID. So until I see it myself it's really a toss up..... These dealers are brokers pushing factories stuff they have little or no control if... But it would be nice to see an actual tear down of one of these. How do I know a movement is x movement. I can tell some by function bth etc.
glad your Daytona works well.

I'd like to buy the new IWC Spitfire Chrono, but I see that it has the seconds at six. Is it plagued by the same old problem or it was solved in the last years?

Truthfully, Ive been away from the board for some time now. I dont know if any changes or improvements have been made over the years to the s@6 movements. Hopefully others that are more active can chime in.

Well I never even thought about the seconds at six on the ARF Daytona making it a potential time bomb. I figured they were okay because they froze the 3 and 9 sub dials. I sold that watch to a buddy of mine. Is it normal for anyone to experience failure in a 7750 on seconds at six with dead 3-9 sub dials?
