Hi RWI members,

I’m Robert (Australian time zone) and new to both reps and this forum. Thanks for the enormous amount of content contributed by many members.

I’m about to buy a 2018 Seamaster 300. After reading some threads, I’m favouring a VSF as ZF don’t make the model I want –
it's a YG/SS Blue Bezel, Blue Face A8800 and YG/SS bracelet. Am I on the right track? Happy to pay a good/best price through a TD to get the best quality rep (well you know - relatively) .

A TD tells me he has 2 of these in stock right now. Given that it’s not the most popular colour scheme – not sure why TD would have 2 in stock. Am I right to assume that quite possibly they have QC issues that had them rejected by previous buyers that had ordered them. Should I perhaps ask for a new one to be ordered from the outset. The price of the watch (in stock) is $424 (I’m happy to pay some premium if they are ensuring higher standard of QC as a TD) Most dealers have the VS for about $350 - $390

Regarding waterproofing, TD tells me (basically) that all reps are not waterproof. But is it possible to pay extra at the factory stage to have some extra water-proofing done ? Are there TD's who can do this, or has anyone had any success with having a VS Seamaster Diver 300 waterproofed at a watchmakers afterwards (given I’m not sure that Omega seals will necessary fit a rep)?

Any advice appreciated,
regards Robert

Hello and WELCOME to RWI from the official reception desk team!

You are receiving this reply either because you posted in the "New members say hi" section or because I spotted one of your first posts elsewhere. In the latter case, please consider going to the aforementioned section and introduce yourself.

If you haven't already, please take some time to read the sticky threads in the new members section (all subsections) as they contain information for newbies and most importantly our forum rules! In particular, please take note of our sales rules, because you will be NOT yet eligible / allowed to sell as you need to meet certain criteria / be certified first.

A good starting point is this list of resources on RWI:

Also, this please take a look at this sticky thread:

If you need further help, please feel free to contact me or @Feefo!

We're always happy to help, but please allow some time for PM responses as we have lifes outside of RWI!

[Please note that this is NOT an automated message!]

It's great that you're doing your homework and due diligence, but don't torture yourself by overthinking this.

You can order, make your payment and if you receive QC and see any gross faults with the watch, you can reject it and ask for a new one from the factory.

Some TDs like Hont or Sead are known to have various watches in stock at all times, sometimes in batches. There is absolutely no reason to believe that it must be a QC reject in every single case a watch is in actual stock.

And even if it is, you can't know whether the watch was rejected for no good reason and you could be the lucky one to get it without any waiting time. And, like I said, worst case is that you'd have to reject it again...

Regarding the WR testing: My personal opinion is to rather have this done by a local rep-friendly watchsmith or a modder vendor here on RWI, not through a TD unless that TD has a proven track record of stellar modding work... Most do not, but some still offer such services. Your decision ultimately as it's your money that you're spending. I think there's no general consensus on that matter, just personal preferences.

Welcome. Put the in stock to test. Get some QCs and worry about asking for new ones from the factory only if required. Just make sure you're using TDs endorsed from this site.

The rep 300 is designed to be waterproof. It may not be to its full potential due to assembly or qc on rubbers. Depending on cost I'd entertain the TD doing a water proof test if it is that important to you.

Hi and welcome!
The pic you have posted shows a RG/SS, or what Omega call Sedna gold - which version are you actually eager to have on your wrist?

Thanks eBoy, Yes I guess I'll go to my local (excellent) watchmaker here in Australia then. I'm guessing he will be happy to work upon a rep for me but I guess you can never be completely sure. regards Robert

Thanks KidCreole, Yes with a bit of recommendation encouragement from yourself and eBoy I'm going ahead to order the watch from Steve at a TD who that seems to be based in China (looking at his whatsapp code). It seems weird though that according to Steve's description, the Seamaster is barely able to get wet at all. I was thinking that being called Seamster , even the repping industry might be tempted to do a bit more waterproofing , and just charge a bit more price wise but maybe that costs a lot more than I realise. Thanks for your help

Hi Route66, Whoops, good pickup. Apologies, I just grabbed screenshot off the TD site but called up the rose gold by accident. I've got a yellow gold ring with a natural yellow sapphire . I wouldn't normally wear anything but a watch , but not that I've got this ring, I'm having to find a new watch that matches,
