The changes start in February and will be completed by May.
Not allowing the sellers recourse when someone doesn't pay or tries to rip them off is idiocy. By removing the check and balances, you will only open them up to extortion by the buyers. There will be a lot of reputaions ruined in a short amount of time. I contacted Ebay about it. Long story short, based on that conversation, here is a typical scanario that can and will happen.
You buy an item from me. After the sale is over I get an email from you stating you think the shipping is too much and I need to drop it by $10. I don't. After you receive the item, you ding me. You got the item as described and in good time so it's obvious why you did it. Ebay will do nothing.
You buy an item from me. After the sale is over I get an email from you stating you think the shipping is too much and I need to drop it by $10. I refuse. You tell me that if I don't you will give me bad feedback. I am forced to and you can still ding me. Ebay will do nothing.
Not only do I have no recourse against you, but, in neither case do I have the ability to leave feedback or respond to what you said anymore. The only option I have is to leave positive feedback. I could leave none of course but they can even extort me on that by sying if I don't leave them any feedback they'll ding me.
No I'm sorry. That's fucked up. People are inherently scum and anyone who thinks this will not happen is naive.
I uncovered a few more thngs too.
If an Ebay seller has more than 5% dissatisfied customers or less than 98% feedback in a 30 day period (Less than 98% would occur the minute you get dinged if you have less than 50 feedbacks. It would only take two for 100 or less), then ebay can hold the Paypal funds until 21 days has passed to make sure a dispute, claim, chargeback, or reversal is filed on that transaction. So you may make a sale but you won't get your money until next month.
Dissatisfied customers are defined as someone who files a dispute, claim, or chargeback even if they end up leaving positive feedback. Any buyer who does not leave a feedback at all will be considered dissatisfied as well.
You can't make this shit up.
Here is a link that was provided to me on RWG by macsupah. Though I have found tons of others.
