Scam Alert! I bought from TikTok and got scammed !

Hello there! I am posting this as I have been recently scammed by a seller unfortunately. The seller is active on Facebook, TikTok and Instagram! Like always a lot of communication before payment and almost no communication after the payment was made! In my case the seller sent a wrong Watch,( I bought two) he asked to smash the wrong Watch so he would send me the new one but after proof of me smashing the wrong item he blocked me. Payment was unfortunately made through PayPal family and friends so not sure how much luck I will have on getting the money back.

Sorry that happened to you. Glad you are here now to read about the process and the trusted dealers on here.

Do NOT use Google to search for these dealers. Use the links in the " trusted dealer" section only- do that and I bet your next transaction will be fruitful.

Sorry to hear that happened to you. We know from experience these social media sales platforms can be very hit and miss and are just drop shippers if you are really lucky and charge a high mark up. If you are unlucky and many are, you get a piece of junk or nothing at all. If you do not know them it is unwise to make a PayPal F&F payment. Many people have been scammed over the years and found a safer place here on RWI. It is not perfect, it is still the Internet but we do our damnedest to keep it safe.

@Imtyyy We NEVER buy off the Gram as it's cluttered with scams. The chance to get scammed or at least to get a bad deal on social media is close to 100%. Would like to echo @C Master: It's unfortunate this happened to you, but thanks for the warning. It may keep others from transacting with the scammer. For your next purchase, make sure to use one of our Trusted Dealers!

PS: Not intending to blame the victim here or anything like that, but just as a general note to other newbies... If a dealer asks you something very outlandish, bizarre and odd as "smashing" a watch to supposedly receive a replacement, this should serve as a gigantic red flag. Think logically! How would that make any difference or serve any purpose for the dealer, other than having a funny video to show his scammer buddies?

Just FYI, Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram are all ENORMOUS red flags.

It's either, you pay and they block you, or, you pay CF/BTF prices, and they send you a DHGate turd.

Do not use socials to buy watches, and do not use Google to go hunting for replica watch sites.

There are even scammers that setup web sites to imitate Trusted Dealer web sites so that when you google, you hit the scam site, and not the real one.

Go to the TD forum here, and use those links to get to dealers that are reputable.

Hello all!thank you all for your kind and warm support! I obviously did not know anything about trusted dealers at the time of purchase nor I did know about this forum! I am here to spread awareness! By the way the smashing of wrong product is a common practice in China, It did sound odd to me at first too, but I bought a lot of other things from Chinese sellers and when the item was wrong they asked me to smash the item and send them proofs (videos or pics) which I did and never had problems previously, shipped same day or next day. Most of the time sellers from Ali express. You are all very right about the family and friends payment but believe me the seller was an expert on pushing me onto using that type of payment… but I do admit it was a stupid choice on my behalf.

Hi, sorry for what happened to you But still, admittedly out of curiosity, I would like to know what exactly you have smashed.

While I get it that they don't want to support a habit where maybe more and more people end up with two items for the price of one (I am not talking about you here, but others who might take advantage of sellers Aftersales Service), I would rather expect that they ask the buyer to return the item. Especially with items of higher value.

Hey @Plaasbaas! I was meant to add videos but it seems like only pictures are allowed! I don’t mind sending you my WhatsApp number in private and I can send you the videos even of the smashing process !! Return was not possible,I asked various times as I hated smashing a watch! For counterfeit goods as it is illegal sellers do not give out their Address.

First time I’ve ever heard of the ‘smashing’ system. I’ve had other products replaced but the seller has just said ‘throw it away’ after I’d offered to return it.

I wonder if ADs have a similar system?
