I assume by 'copy the whole post to another to edit' this is what you meant:
I also know the pictures are bigger than 640x480 but I assume that is ok as I am not posting full pictures here just links to the full pictures.

EDIT: ADDING MORE PICS (LUME1&2, SET1&2&3)
Here's my entries:

My first pic: (only a little clear because it was taking with a nice video camera)

All pics aside from the first one ^^^^ are taking with an older 3.1 MP EasyShot:
AFTER:

Used my well worked rubiks cube in these to prop it on:
2 Lume shots (The lume on my watch sucks this is taken under a blacklight in complete darkness then overlayed and all it is is the 2 hands.) I couldn't decide which edit I liked better (watch at 50% opacity or 100%) so I uploaded both:
LUME:

1: Set Design:::

"Ode to Robosapien" (He wouldn't hold his hand up very high for me watch too heavy haha.
SET1

SET2

SET3

ATTEMPT 1 FLARE:
Him fixing my comp for me. He has such tiny little hands I trust him to fix my hard drive:

Hope you like anyway let me know.. :)

EDIT: To add an attempted flare haha

That all sound and look good :D

@Fakey : that's a great shot ! ;)

@Spider87 : for Lumeshots, no need for overlaying. Take you picture in the dark (with settings as advised in my first post in the thread), during the 10-15 seconds which are needed switch a light close to the watch on and off (1/2 or 1 second)... You will end with your lumeshot and the image of your watch "printed" in the same pic... :)

Like I said though it wouldn't be much of a shop as only the 2 hands have the slightest bit of lume. The hands were photographed under a black light and it was still barely able to be captured by camera. I'll give that a shot though.

Also, I don't believe my camera is new enough to have exposure settings :-\.

Hey Spider87, nice job. Definitely a huge improvement.

So I took the liberty of editing your last post. I tried to improve the dial definition and removed the power cord that was dangling at the back right of your picture. This was all done with PhotoFiltre; not bad for a free piece of software!

I think your hard drive is toasted!

Awesome, nice improvement thanks P! By the way, don't underestimate a rolex repair watch... He knows what he's doing... haha

I'm still going to see if I can't find any more ideas on pics too... this is a lot of fun actually being impressed by pictures I take.. haha most of the pics I take are like drab and ugly but since reading the tips and everything here they've started impressing me :)

Picture taking can become addicting.

Funny fact for me is that I go through ups and downs.. good and bad pictures and when they are bad (right now I am not liking my pictures at all) it irritates the hell out of you. I think I have an over saturation of light in my photos.. (I just figured out another problem.. I used to shoot with the watch on top of a small box, I have not been doing that lately.. I bet it cleans up my pictures.. lol.. hehe) :D :D

The photos are starting to improve.

LISTEN CAMERA NOOBS.. EVERYONE POSTING IN THIS THREAD IS JUST LIKE YOU, A NOVICE WITH THE CAMERA. GET YOUR CAMERAS OUT AND SNAP THE PICTURES.. A GOOD THING TO DO IS TAKE A PHOTO OF YOUR PREP AREA, SHOW US WHAT YOU ARE WORKING WITH SO WE CAN HELP YOU OUT A LITTLE MORE.
THIS IS MORE FUN THAN YOU THINK (SEE PREVIOUS POSTER!!)

About a month. We need to allow a bit of time for people to get over their inhibitions (which you've obviously already done!) and take a few shots. I would take a guess and suggest that there are a few people out there that have taken some pictures but they're not really happy with the end result so they're holding back. The whole idea is to learn from others, have some fun and make some new friends.

Most of us own a camera that spends most of it's life in a drawer collecting dust. We take it out for weddings, Xmas and vacations when we take snapshots. The nice thing about a hobby like watches is that it gives you an opportunity to do something more imaginative with a camera. I'm an engineer by profession and so instinctively I look at everything in a correct-incorrect fashion. Photography allows the creative part of your mind to come out; nothing is right, wrong, good, bad or whatever, it's simply what you feel. That's not natural for me so I struggle with it but it's another new challenge which I take pleasure in. The concept of this topic is simply to encourage people to try something new and different; which I think is what you've done so far!

Sorry if I'm ranting ...

haha No rant seen. Completely valid statements the whole way down. :) I'm going to keep digging around with my camera trying to get some neater shots. I'm hoping one of these days it's actually nice outside maybe I can get a few of it outside (It's(My only watch) sooo shiny outside when the sun is bright lol) so I'll be excited if I can grab some outdoors shots too. My problem I want to work away now is glass glare. I can't figure out how to make it stop reflecting the glare so I'm going to reread the tips posts and what not and see if I can't figure something out. :)

Totally Agreed!! I am always looking at hoe the watch companies take perfect pictures of their watchs but it is not so nice in real life!!

lol I wish I could take lume shots... my lume sucks even under a blacklight it is almost unnoticeable... I'm trying to at least get like one of the noob subs or something soon(but I don't think it will make it within this month) because they're nice and the lume is definitely better than the lume on my watch. I had a scary thing this morning my watch lost 2 hours. Was fearing for it's life I think it just needed wound... it should be winding itself but maybe I wasn't moving enough for it to wind or something...

The problem of lumeshots is that if you can't have a longer exposure, it's really difficult to capture anything that looks like lume, even if the original is strong...
There's a tricky way to emphasize the glow of your lume : go into Adjust/hue-saturation, and choose the green channel. Then play a bit with the cursor. It will give more color to all green tints.
I name it tricky, as the result might be far from natural lume.

Then play a bit with the contrast to accentuate blacks (IMO, they always please the eye).
I must say that Photosop is much better at that, but Photofiltre will help you improving your pictures anyway.

Don't forget to resize your picture into 640x480

An other key feature and modification is sharpening the image. If your original shot is slightly blurry (it does not work if it's too much, you can't turn a bad shot into an excellent one).
Unfortunately Photofiltre is pretty weak at that, but it's better than nothing.
As usual, play with the contrast and/or saturation to have deeper blacks. Then go into the filters and use the sharpen feature. Take the lightest level, as unfortunately a too high sharpening in Photofiltre will add noise to your pictures.
For this purpose Photoshop is much better.

The smartest way is to apply these settings to the dial or to some portions of the picture only, by first selecting an area.

So Pix now we know how you manage to create such great lume shots; use Photoshop to add colored bits and pieces and crank up the saturation! Sure is cheaper than applying Tritec. Just kidding...

Here's a lume I did of my PAM since you're such a lover of it:

DSC00461.jpg

The lume was so intense that I was getting 'lume' glare off the glass. PhotoFiltre soon fixed that problem. In case you're wondering this is a basic PAM with a DSN dial and hands fitted. I've actually just ordered a Blancpain fifty fathoms from DSN so I'll have some new pics to post shortly.

Looking forward to seeing some more shots from Alviando!

lol and I'm just chopped liver? ;-) j/k but how do you reduce glass glare? My watch always has a ton of reflections from things in the area (monitors, lights, sun) I've been trying to find a clear explanation somewhere... maybe i keep missing the correct how to piece?
