Crack the back open and adjust the how fast the watch is running. Click it towards the minus sign. This may work.

Thanks, I knew there was an adjustment back there but I didn't want to mess with it without confirming that is what the
(+ - ) was for.

Thanks

That wont do anything. Thats a fine adjustment, and will only make about a 30 second difference. Likely the hairspring is binded or has some dust on it.

Mechanical watches will run really fast if they are magnetized. Any rep friendly watch maker can demagnetize it.

True, but I read something from Ziggy recently that most hairsprings are now made of an anti-magenteic material, so that should no longer be an issue.

Try adjusting that + -. The variance on my Asian 7750 is + - 5 minutes a day. It takes quite sometime to make it dead accurate.

He is out 80 minutes a day. Not a hope of fixing with the fine tune. Something is wrong.

Sorry for the overlook. Yes... definitely something is wrong. I am aware that the ETA + - may not have such a big range (>5 minutes).

Take it to a retailer that has the magnatized security tags and get them to swipe it over their demagnatizer...

I remember reading a post where a member was having a simular problem and he was told to gently slap the watch down on a book or something because it had to do with the hairspring being hungup. Could this be right? I don't know if that member had a ETA movement or if it was a self wind.

That could very likely cure your watch. Heres what happens: two or more coils of the hairspring touch. The end up sticking together and thus shortening the length of the spring. Because it cannot coil and uncoil fully, the balance wheel speeds up (faster shorter strokes). Thus, your watch speeds up.

Slapping the watch gently is often enough to free up the spring. I've heard of this happening because of a single piece of dust laying across the spring.
