This is awesome, thanks for sharing these!

I feel like the color difference becomes more apparent comparing the XF and gen. The XF tapisserie looks really great though, and the sunburst is not as "bad" as I initially thought.

The lume however definitely appears very yellow on XF compared to gen which is almost stark white..

yep the lume markers are green on the rep XF, gen is pure white just like XF hands. the color is slightly off, the gen dial color is very difficult to replicate accurately, having said that the JF dial atleast in pictures may be closer to gen in terms of color

What about jf thickness?

I'm planning to dismantle both JF and XF later.. I'm using the XF as a base for a franken 5402 build, and I was planning to convert the JF into a somewhat "hybrid" 15300 (the genuine 15300 is 9.5mm thick, and the JF case at 9.7mm is a near perfect case for it.)

I can try and get caliper measurements of the JF dial and XF dial. Unless theres a huge difference in the thickness I imagine it should be an easy swap... since both use Miyota 9015.

Sounds like to be a nice project.

JF and XF dial colors are NOT comparable. JF replicated mark 1 dials, while XF dis mark 3. Both are pretty close to the version they’re based to, having seen both gens.

Thanks for the insight, this is fantastic information to lend some clarity to the differences between the XF and JF dial.

I vaguely recalled that these were based on different versions of the 15202 but couldn't find the specific details.

In my review I actually don't compare them against each other, nor have I said either one is better than the other. I only tried to objectively highlight the details of each individual dial, since they are quite different.

Interesting find, this could a new JF 15202 v2 which they desperately need to ward off the competition. Where did you see or read that it has a height of 8.3mm? Thanks.

use your eyes mate - it's the same watch they released in the first run. nothing is updated it still looks wrong in many ways.

Hey there everyone,
First of all thanks a lot for this review.

I had two questions :

1- Would you trade a 15400 for this and why ?
2- Would any of you guys consider using a rubber bracelet on that one ?

Best

For easy reference, I am again listing the case and bracelet dimensions:

Case thickness:

DC = 7.7mm
XF = 8.5mm
JF = 9.7mm

Bracelet thickness:

DC = 3.3mm
XF = 2.3mm
JF = 2.6mm

THANK YOU for this great review!
May I ask you, did you also measure the case diameter of them?
Are they all exactly 39 mm?

1) I actually am trying to sell my 15400 for this as one its much thinner then the 15400 and at 39mm its more manageable then the 15400 41mm
2) The RO bracelet is part of the reason most people buy into an AP Royal Oak so I would not put it on a rubber bracelet

1. I personally would, they're different case diameters and I prefer 39mm to 41mm
2. nope, bracelet all the way
