It seems that the Rolex Tool watches are the most popular. If you get dressed up would you wear a Sub or a Deepsea? I see people wearing larger watches so do you see the Deepsea as a little extra Rolex bling or do you hate it?

The deepsea is great, a sub seems too small to me.
In fact my wife wears a sub daily :)

The Deepsea looks huge there but the sub looks tiny. I hope the guy in the Deepsea picture has small wrists and is just making the Deepsea overly large

The deepsea is very large. Far to large for a suite in my opinion. But I don't like the deepsea at all. I love the submariner and I think it looks really cool with a suite if you're a sporty guy. If you're not? Just wear a dresswatch. But that's just my opinion.

For me, an LV sub is the perfect watch for any occasion, the green bezel makes it look a little dressy, but not as formal as a two tone and being a sub it's also a perfect match for jeans and t shirt. I like the DSSD but think it's a little too big to sit nicely under a double cuff or suit sleeve. I find my panerai 177 too big to wear with a formal shirt and the DSSD has even more height to it.

Being here reading about the DSSD is that what you call it? That I am trying to get the answer I want. If I am going to spend that kind of money on a watch I want to wear it all the time. I think I will wear a jacket to the AD tomorrow and see if it fits I have my fingers crossed.

Yeah it's called a dssd (deep sea sea dweller). It really is a big heavy thing. Especially the height what plymman says.

@plymman: the problem is that the green doesn't go with every suite combination.

Rolex sport models go with everything, I believe most luxury watches are be capable of being a nice dress watch as long as they retain a classic look [this is why the Rolex models look so good in a suit] and are not too sporty, if it fits under your cuffs you're good to go, chronographs are tricky and unless it were a high end chronograph I wouldn't think of it as a suitable dress watch. IMO of course. Panerai watches with the exception of the Radiomir line [excluding the EGI] are not suitable dress watches.

@Sven I find the LV is fine with any suit, its just the shirt you need to look out for, it doesn't go well with blue but looks great with White. My only issue with the black bezel is it's a little bit more understated and is still quite casual and conservative even with a suit. To be fair though, you can't go wrong with any rolex as a good all rounder, I often wear a scuffed up vintage sea dweller with a suit and it still looks great!

Hmm, maybe not the LV but the Green GMT in FG is certainly dressy as is it's black with gold bezel FG counterpart.

Any TT sub counts as does the ultimate dressy toolwatch, the mighty Yacht Master.

Concur that most chronos are not a dress watch but anything by Patek is an exception :)

Daniel is not an Omega ambassador. James Bond is. So Daniel can wear anything he likes...
Pierce brosnan was an Omega ambassador so he always had to wear omega.

A dssd in a suit..... that's just wrong IMO.

Depending on the pam but I definitely think the rads would be a nice suit watch.

French cuffs and me thinks a DSSD would work just fine. A Sub or a C Sub would seem a little more refined though.

Just a hunch, but the name "Corvetteguy" is oddly as bland as the names "johnnydeepsea" or "DSSDOWNER". That the DSSD has now become a topic is giving me flashbacks... Hmmmm...

Syntax is sort of the same too... :stir:
