It's a thumnail type by the looks of it.

Absolutely! In fact, i was looking at those type on rBay and Etsy.
I believe the one from the original movie strap is definitely more like that; chunky, brushed ss but i think a bit more flat overall.

If the pin which goes through the holes were a little slimmer and the front reduced in width and curve, it would be very close i believe.

I found one on eBay and was going to purchase it and modify it. It is a bit more flat than overall curved which is better.
I was going to just then modify the shape and then finish it off with a nice original brushed ss effect.

I will see what happens and post here when complete! ;)

The pin looks to be the round type which would make sense otherwise it wouldn't go through the grommets. And if you look closely at the one Connery is wearing it looks like most of the grommets have fallen out.

Here you go this is pretty close, it's the one on the far end.

Interesting find ;). That's definitely something good to work from.

I'm going to machine something up this weekending; more time. I'll print out the images and zoomed in and contrast, brightness etc altered to get the clearest i can of the shape.

I will see how things go with what i can do ;). I have examined the image in relation to the strap holes; I can 100% guarantee they have eyelet grommets in them. I have enhanced the image in photoshop and the results are clear. They appear to be around 5mm in total diameter and around 2-3mm the holes themselves - There's a lot on Etsy exactly the same, so i might purchase some and see what to do.

I may find a tang/buckle, i am still looking and maybe i'll get lucky, but i have the stainless steel and making one as a prototype will be easy.

In terms of Marvellous Replica:-
I paid trough Wise. It is basically the same as PayPal anyway so i wasn't that concerned - It was the seller i was more concerned about but, it was flawless with him and from making the initial enquiry, i recall it taking around 9-10 days to arrive.
DISCLAIMER: They use a shipping service called 'Special Line' - It by-passes customs and the item goes straight to your countries default postal service.
I used eylets once, but I removed them. Pin lost its smoth glide into hole.
