If we put aside the horrible name, the Land Dweller is actually growing on me…
That case shape is superb, even the bezel and honeycomb dial are starting to look good…

Would never buy one in gen, but a rep? Sure
+1... Disappointment comes, as it always does, from expectations of an Oysterquartz rebirth.

All in all, the design does make sense, I'm still not particularly liking the 6 and 9 numerals, but for the rest, it's a congruent design. I'll wager the name Land-Dweller is also chosen on purpose, if this will be a flop, it will be discontinued and "forgotten", like the Turn-o-graph, to resurface in auctions at ludicrous prices and gain niche appreciation. So they can keep "Oysterquartz" for a more classic issue, maybe they'll gift us a Rolex Mecaquartz in future...

I can see it now....

Hodinkee in 2088.... "For sale is a rare Land Dweller produced in 2025 .... universally panned at the time of release but has become a collectible, first watch to use Rolex's now standard SKYLOXI escapement system.... yours for. $450,000 USD or 3 bitcoins...."

So I have to swim against the tide for once. It's perfectly clear – for people who are deeply into the watch game, the Land Dweller is disappointing in some respects.

The design is half-baked and somehow neither here nor there. But in my opinion, this is mainly due to the unsuccessful dial; the rest is debatable. Technically, however, the watch is top notch. And that's actually the point for me: Rolex has finally caught up technically and found a point that – besides marketing – justifies the prices. Until now, Rolex has managed, as if by magic, to market its mass-produced products as luxury items. Now they have at least a technical hook that justifies the prices.

For Rolex, this was a game changer in my opinion. I suspect that the new technologies will now be incorporated into the existing model series with each new edition.

And as for the Land Dweller... just think of the Daytona, the Royal Oak and the Nautilus. These were also ridiculed by the ‘community’ when they first came out. And even the now-acclaimed Code 11.59 was quite ugly in its original version. If Rolex gives the LD new dials and a slight facelift over the next few years, the model will surely have a permanent place in the lineup.

Totally agree. I have to give it to Rolex, now I can't really say Omega Coaxial is better technically, especially because of how thick Omega watches are, these new escapement system from Rolex is thinner.

Omega will have to step it up and reduce thickness!!!

Here you can see full releases
The only new introduction that really appeals to me is the pistachio OP. At first I thought it was only available in women's sizes, but apparently it also comes in 41mm.

Yes. And the OP line is apparently fully updated with a different case profile and slimmer clasp. So actually this is maybe "v2" iteration of 124300 series.

In white gold this would have been cool, kind of a newer version of the beach Daytona. But the combination with yellow gold looks awful imo

seriously....who the hell thought pairing this dial with yellow is a good idea? and black bezel. would have looked more acceptable in white gold / stainless

I like the new Land Dweller honeycomb dial, looks banger. Also, I’m excited about the new calibre 7135.
