It's a great watch fred. you won't be disappointed. One of the most underrated watches out there. With just a couple improvements it should be considered a super rep. The goof up with the lume was just really stupid on their part. and is such an easy thing that they could have done to get it right. I can about bet the bank that the v3 will have that issue fixed. Other than that there's not much else that can be done. everything is interchangeable with gen parts, everything is the same measurements, same weight, even the hour marker indices which are stainless steel are polished in a way that they look like white gold. So a lot of thought and process has gone into this watch. They claim it to be the best bracelet on the market, and I do have to agree. I've had a lot of different oyster bracelets and there have been none that compare to this one. so, you definitely can't go wrong with this watch. One thing I have found though is it's either a love it or hate it watch. It's not the most popular model made by rolex by far, but it still is a big seller and in demand

The bracelet is nice but a little sharper around the edges as compared to a gen. But I still absolutely love this watch.

I started talking to him about the movements and about the different reps and he was super happy I knew my stuff and he said he could instantly tell it's a rep. First key giveaway is the weight. Real Rolex's use White Gold and a special kind stainless steel on their watches which is much heavier than any other kind of stainless steel. Even though this replica watch is VERY HEAVY, it's still not as heavy as a genuine Rolex.

Regards,
Jordan :)

Sorry, Jordan, but to say that you can tell it's a rep Explorer II just because of the weight is absolutely wrong.

Just as general information to tackle all these myths spread by so called "watch experts":

the gen Explorer II weighs 152g (http://www.watchtime.net/heftarchiv2/show.php?pdf=CH_2012_01_042.pdf)

my rep Noob Explorer II V2 with complete bracelet weighs 154g

So, it turns out, it is even 2g heavier than the gen !

Everybody who claims he can spot a rep Noob Explorer II because of it's weight, doesn't have a clue.

Could it be because of the materials it's made with. It might be the same weight, but the band and everything else about the watch might feel slightly different. Maybe he just assumed it was a fake after just seeing how young I was who knows. Or he could be one of the best watch smiths ever ;) haha

Don't know about "materials", but you said that the "first giveaway is the weight".
And weight is weight and doesn't depend on "materials".
I've seen YouTube videos, where Rolex watch dealers tell people exactly the same thing, "the weight is the giveaway".
Maybe true for the reps five years ago.
But for today's: complete bullsxxxt !
These guys should try to catch up with the rep business, I think two classes per year on reps are not enough ! :courage:

This is all very interesting, but the easiest way to spot a rep Explorer II is by licking it. The gen has a distinct taste, steely with a delicate note of Swiss Mocha.

yah, there's no way he would know that it's a rep. unless he looked at the hand stack or closely at the rehaut or the lume. Everything else is spot on. the weight, the feel, everything. The bracelet is absolutely spot on to the gen. Trust me. I've done enough research and comparisons on this watch to know. I can guarantee that if you walked back in to your watchsmith with a gen this time he would say the same exact thing.

I'm really lmao now.
This "experienced watch repairman", whose expertise was that the "first key giveaway is the weight" in order to spot a fake, turns out to be a "con artist" in just a few days.
Goes to show again, how many so called experts often talk complete bullshit and they don't have a clue about the replica business.
And even worse, people transport this bullshit into the forums and it gets quasi-fact.
Fact is, I would trust some RWI "experts" here a lot more than most AD personnel / watchsmiths.

i think its sad that he (a experienced watchsmith) saw the quality of yours yet thought he could pass a canal st POS to you at near the same price.
i dont know if hes that dumb or if he thought you were.... paying to get a bracelet sized... come on. you can buy a eye glass repair kit from any drug store with a small screwdriver for .99c.

oh well. at least you know not to trust him.

Wow guys...keep in mind I'm completely new to all of this. You should give me props that I was even able to tell that his watches were shit :) also I didn't have time to go get a screwdriver set or search for one since I had a midterm the next day and I REALLY REALLY wanted to wear my watch :)

I agree. and glad you found out that he was full of shit before you might have bought one of those pieces of garbage. I have never been to a jeweler that charges to size your bracelet for you so that should be a sign there that he is just a jerk. It literally takes a couple minutes. and all it is is removing 4 screws. removing the unwanted links and then putting the screws back in. To do this you really don't need an expensive screwdriver. but just a small screwdriver set which usually costs around 5 bucks or so will do just fine. You just have to be careful becaue the screwdrivers can slip off the heads of the screws and scratch the sides of the links very easily. so it's just a matter of taking your time and going slow. You will get the hang of it pretty much immediately. jsut go to walmart or any dollar store or hardwar store and you can pick them up very cheaply. It's good to know how to do it anyway. and plus it's about the easiest thing you can do on a watch good luck and glad you didn't get scammed by that guy. Too many people get scammed and that's just terrrible.

Wow guys...keep in mind I'm completely new to all of this.

I appreciate that. But especially then, I wouldn't post things that are not proven or even completely false, like "first key giveaway is the weight" and "the actual glass on the watch is a key giveaway and is sloppy on replica watches since real watches use Sapphire Crystal."

And you seemed to be quite happy with his rep quality initially: "He then went in the back, and pulled out a bunch of replicas and offered me some really good sub's for only $250."

My point is, get your FACTS together before starting to post nonsense !
We all had our learning curve, though.
