This will probably come with a VR or VS 3135 and a 7135 deco plate. Syloxi deco balance bridge. That's not a bad thing, it will get to market faster. I can't see the factories attempting to rep the Dynapulse escapement or any other new movement features.

In my humble opinion, visually fora rep, the hi beat is the only thing that matters to replicate aesthetics. Sure it would be nice to have the new direct impulse escapement (very unlikely) but it doesn't really impact anything about the replica aesthetically.

And while I like to think the Chinese are pretty good at manufacturing and now have a long heritage cycle of watch manufacturing, the DRIE technology applied for MEMS that is used to create the escapement in the new Land Dweller is not something that can be done with traditional manufacturing/watch making techniques, it is a real, industrial, high level process that, no offense to the rep makers, cannot be done shoddily.

DRIE/MEMS, all this tech, is used in semi conductor engineering, requires stable clean rooms, skilled technicians that are expertly trained, lots of experience.

If they can replicate all of this for the fraction of the price, then I applaud the chinese and wholly welcome the next era of the dominant Chinese masters.
there are reports that PRC has breakthrough on EUV on different approach, so yeah I believe give them time and someone there will eventually come out with something similar...

My question with this new escapement is they said it took 7 years of development - I'm curious how they tested the toughness. Did they put some movements into Sub cases and have their employees wear them for months to work out, golf, play tennis etc and make sure they stood up to the challenge?

You're gonna have to ask Rolex not us 😅

Only time will tell about durability of this new movement. But if I can speculate, Rolex won't release a product on industrial scale with major flaws

what do you think would be the impact on thickness?

Deco plates are usually pretty thin and sometimes are fitted without increasing thickness at all. But as thin as the LD is (9.8mm) a rep is going to have to be thicker already if using a 3135. So it will be interesting to see what the factories come up with.

Hey, that's the author of "Cop Killer" screaming "hate", who ended up playing a cop and making big bucks in a decades long TV show. I wonder if he ever had to say "right now my job is eating these donuts".
That album had great skits

I find it funny that so many from this forum are so unaware about Rolex and it's history. They don't even know how and why Rolex makes watch models. This is based on Rolex's own 1969 Quartz version and it was released pre Royal Oak and other Genta designs.

This is way cooler and unique, and they should have based it on this.

I think they really missed an opportunity to include the Air King 05 minute increments onto the dial, it would help with all that open space…

Corporate over exaggerate this stuff and Rolex even more. They start counting when they had their first wet dream.

Rolex is the absolute master of making you believe stuff is harder than it actually is. It took them 2 years tops. Entire cars can be built designed and on the road within 2 years.

Cars take much longer than 2 years to get to market, not sure if you're joking.

If expect Rolex did field testing as that person suggested as well as rigging up vibration machines and other stuff for long term durability lab tests.

You truly don't understand Rolex at all. They don't crank up models every other year. The last 3 new models they released were Yachtmaster in 1992, Sky dweller in 2012 and now Land Dweller in 2025. See the gap, 7 years is nothing especially covid in between.

Besides - LD has new movement with 5Hz which none of the current competitors are doing it and that will take years to even perfect it before they even decide to go public. Rolex releases when they see the need, they don't work like Elon Musk and crank up models in weeks.

Yes and No, Like Apple per say, They started designing and working on the the iPad in early 2000s, i think 03-04...They released it in 2010. (and they have have tried tablet style projects in the early 90s as well but thats another story)

Once they dropped the iPod, Jobs said its time to start working mobile phone in similar style device, that was 5-6 years i thnk?

Now with the rumors of iPhone fold or flip for 2026, they have been working behind the scenes since 2019 when Samsung dropped their fold/flips and other brands started to follow...
Smart companies take their time with building and releasing stuff.. It usually is worth it.

Sadly Apple design has been pretty trash lately so hopefully they are working on something major LOL

I love the case shape. I love the bracelet. The movement looks fantastic. But that dial is a heinous crime against good taste. Why the air-king style sports numerals with a fancy fluted bezel? Why the hexagons? Why the chapter ring? Why that stupid fucking name? Hard pass. If they release one with a stick dial I'd get one.
