Hi Guys,

I'm about to buy the $228 Asian movement Rolex GMT II Ceramic from Puretime. I did some research and saw that there was one which was low quality with asian movement that you can buy for around $149. But I was wondering if anyone had one from Puretime, and if so is it the same amazing case as the one used for the ETA version. Also how reliable is the Asian GMT movement?

Best,

Toc

That version appears to be identical to the ETA versions.
No idea on the Asian 2836 clone GMT version movement.

I've got both versions of GMT-II.

No problems with either - so dont worry about reliability. Just the price.

Thanks

I don't know anything about Rolex reps (so this may be a horrible version), but here's a link to an Asian version on the Watcheden site.

http://www.watcheden.com/rolex-gmt-mast ... 22242.html

After discount it's only $118 shipped.

I bought this watch and had to ship it back right away:
The bracelet was scratched even before I took off the protective plastic wrapping
Dried water stains on the bracelet
The hour hand did not align with the minute hand i.e. when set to 6:00 the hour hand was slightly forward of the 6 o' clock marker
The paint on the GMT hand was inconsistent and missing near the arrow
Very fuzzy and cheap Rolex markings on the band, could not even make out the words

They promised to send me a new one and I just shipped it back yesterday. Caveat emptor

Oops, was about to order it ! Did they ship a new one that matches the description ? Also did they refund the return costs ?

I had to pay the return cost (pretty much killed the $20 off coupon) they kept it for about two weeks and informed me that all GMT II's with that type of movement were defective so I had to pick another watch. I chose a Porsche Design Flat 6 quartz and said f-it I'm buying a Fakie GMT. I asked for a special price on my next order and they agreed. I'll see what I want and if I want to order from them again.

Thanks, so it seems I'll have to pick another watch then, unless they've received a better batch.

Took a while, but mine came in yesterday, reasonably satisfied, no problems like on yours, it does gain about 20 seconds a day though.

One problem though is that the GMT hand is "grass green", and "wimbledon green" as on the gen I saw in a shop and compared to the other reps. You can actually tell from from the picture on their site, but I thought this was due to lighting :

What do you guys think ?

I have an a21j of this watch. But gonna save for an ETA later on, I wish the dumb rep makers would fix the clasp on this watch as they did on the DEEPSEA v3, cause the engravings on the GMT-IIc (all of them) are really CRAPPY and dull, you almost can´t see them there on the inside of the clasp.

Check the green color of the GMT Hand...

Here´s mine:

Thanks, looks like we have the same watch then, in the meantime I found this excellent review of the Swiss vs Asian GMTIIc : viewtopic.php?p=393253#p393253

Don't know if I'm going to keep it or not...you can find the Swiss for about $200 these days, second hand shipped.

..Yeah, I´ve seen that review before, and have discussed that alot with other members :)

I´m gonna keep mine as a spare (or just as daily-beater, as the polished center links get alot of scratch very easily) and leave the ETA for some special occasions.
I´m pretty much satisfied with my a21j until now, and I own it since....September ´08, I think. The watch is a beauty...except for the crap engravings on the inside of the clasp.

Cheers,
Spirit.

Probably the wise thing to do, it's just a tad annoying to find out about these little details ;-)
Is that "problem" discussed in another topic here ?

Actually mine is a slight variation, because they appear to have fixed the bezel (no more "crooked" 22 for instance), here it is, sorry the pic isn't great :

oh WOW.

...first thing I immediatelly noticed on yours, is how DEEP the numbers are engraved on the bezel! it really stands out at the watch.
Other thing also noticed is that the GMT hand on yours is very short, shorter than mine, seems to have a mm or even 2 between the markers and the hand arrow. Mine isn´t as long as it should be (the ETA has the correct GMT hand, which goes almost to touch the rehaut), But yours seems to be the shortest of these models.

I like the bezel on yours, but I see it casts alot of shadows on the numbers, due to its big depth. Nice pic none the less, fella!

Check the numbers depth on the Bezel on mine, and the GMT hand size:

EDIT> Forgot to ask, did yours come with the so-damned ENEVEN Crystal yet? When did you buy yours?

...I was about to go ask you when I saw your GMT-IIc at the wristcheck thread, Mr. Zoso..

When and where did you get your GMT-IIc? It looks to have the same deep bezel as Webvan´s one, but the lighting makes it look rounder on some corners of the numbers.
All those ambiance light change for each pic makes it look like there are alot of versions of this 'upgraded a21j GMT-IIc'...

Cheers,
Spirit.
