why cant they just make a correct DJ.....

I think it's because the Datejust 36mm is relatively unpopular when compared to Subs and GMT, so less attention is directed to Datejust.

How can both factories still screw up a simple Datejust case design is beyond me

Great comparison thanks. Im currently looking to purchase a similar one in SS/RG for my partner.

Can you tell me are the centre links plated on the side and if not how noticeable is it ?

Also where did you get the V2 from i can only seem to find 36mm with movement options sa3135 which I've been advised against and a2836 and from reading above this must be V1 as there is no a2824-2 option ?

kudos

@Saint888 Thanks for the excellent review

I assume the datejust 36mm is best avoided due to these flaws? I am looking for the best Datejust which I assume would be the 41mm 18k wrapped versions

Great comparison. Also worth mentioning the applied coronet on the dial doesn't have the correct 3D polished effect. It doesn't look "bad", but it is a very obvious tell. The lume on BP is dogshit as well. Both my DD40 and 16610 have seriously weak lume.

If somebody were to step up to the mark and produce a NWBIG version of the classic DJ surely they'd make a fortune. Can we all just chant really loudly or something and make it happen? I just bought a BP 116234 and despite these errors I'm still gonna wear the shit outta it, but if JF or noob ever busted out a super rep I'd buy one instantly and flush the BP down the shitter.

Check out the new ARF datejust 116234 - it has sh3135 superclone movement and it's made of 904l steel.. and the case dimensions look better. The BP datejust 36mm is gonna go obsolete because of this new release

I saw the thread about that, the date font is really bad and put me off so I went with BP. Also it was pretty cheap so I figured screw it, I'll probably go gen eventually anyway.

I agree that the date disc font is a complete turn off

But i am prepared to mod the hell out of this when i buy it muahaha

There is a solution to this problem without extensive modding - you can install a Noob SA3135 date disc (i.e. it has a thinner font) into this movement. I believe perfect clone sells the Noob 3135 date disc individually for $25 and it should be thin enough to work in the SH3135 without binding onto the studs (i.e. so no need to sand the date disc or swap the date seat to a genuine one)

I have an incoming gen smooth bezel that i might use for this build or my superduper franken 14270 explorer 1 build

Sorry for late reply. As you can see in my photo the side of the center links not plated. It's not noticeable when i'm wearing it. Since ussually people look at my wrist at minimum 1 meter.

If you are fans of DJ like me you will buy it. My wrist 6,9 inch but i prefer DJ36. I have DJ II.

Great post and thanks OP for the nice comparison.

Really like the 36 datejust. If anyone is thinking about selling, shoot me a PM. Stick markers and EU preferred.
