Pick up a rolex caseback set from amazon for $30 and open the back and compare the movement to pictures of a gen. The only movement that will look close beyond some decorated bridges and rotor is the SA3135 and that has tells. From the craptastic picture, one thing I can point out is I don't see any black hole effect on the cyclops. Pretty much everything else is so blurred that it is impossible to point out faults. There is also no space between the 300m which, while can be gen, is not as common as the 300 m. Tell your friend to send you a head on picture of the dial that is actually clear. Also, why would you want a GMT master bracelet on a submariner? You are looking at over $1k to get a correct bracelet. This should be reason enough to pass.

here's one of many articles discussing the Rolex black hole...

tell him to meet at a rolex dealer. Theyll tell you pretty quick if its gen or not.

No they don't. RSC is the only place that authenticates watches, and it's $200 minimum.

I've never asked him if he sucks - but I can give you his address if you want to ask him yourself.

Rolex Authorised Dealers don't open up watches at the counter to see what's inside, despite what you might think;

Im telling you my personal experience with them. You can try and disagree all you want about that, but it is inaccurate. maybe its cause ive bought watches from them before, or because they want the business, but ive had 2 watches recently inspected by them. one was gen, one turned out to be a fake.

OP, if you want to find out if they will help you out, contact a dealer directly.

I am not trying to disagree- it's done, I've disagreed with you and I've moved on - you should too.

Thank you guys, the seller keeps confirming that it's authentic and he has shown me a receipt in person, but I was wondering if they could be forged too?
And THANKS for all the constructive response!

Of course it can be forged. You are making this incredibly complicated - ask him to take clear pictures of the watch, face on, from each side, and one with the case back off - if it's gen Rolex he'll do it, if it's a fake he'll find excuses.

My opinion would be that the watch must be a rep due to the incredibly poor quality picture.

Anyone looking to sell a 6k watch would at least take one decent picture. Look at all the Gen Rolex for sale online and all are well photographed or at least people have tried.

That picture looks like he's got something to hide.

Bro. For over 6k, you can go to TRF and buy a much better sub with all original parts and bracelet. Why waste time with this fishy seller

You are all totally right but it would be awesome if there was one obvious fault as he claims the authenticity.

henr047b. one among many, i saw was the scallop ridges on the bezel edge. Its not deep and the bottom part should be pointy instead of round.

Dude....
People here have given you half a dozen legit reasons NOT to buy that watch. What more do you need to convince you to NOT spend $6k on a fake rolex?
Based on what I've seen here it's not even a high end replica, let alone a gen.
