Hello gents, tonight I'm proud to show you the definitive (is it?) 6538 build



A few months ago a friend contacted me asking if I was available for a special project, of course I was but I did not imagine what it was.



He had found a 1030 movement and wanted me to build the best 6538 I could around it.





It was a great opportunity and I tried to do my best to translate my friend's view of a 6538 into a watch. The desired result was an old but clean watch.
I worked a lot on the dial indices, on hands aging and case aging.
I think the outcome is decent



Here is a parts list for the curious ones:

- Ruby's 6538 case set with aftermarket brevet crown
- Ruby's 4 liner 6538 true gilt dial
- Ruby's serif insert and pearl
- Phong hands
- Gen 1030 movement

It always amazes me how different these look to Silix builds...I think the correct dial size makes that 8mm crown look even bigger. Great build :clap_1: the new owner must be very pleased.

I could be wrong, but I believe they are designed as gen spec, so gen movement fits well. I think they will also take ETA movements, but with a movement ring and some fiddling (from what I’ve read at least). I’m sure kilowattore will chime in to confirm what (if any) work needs to be done to the case to fit the 1030.

1030 fit perfectly, no work required except figuring out how the movement tabs work
ETA 2824 ad similar sized movements can fit too but need an adapter
