Ain't saying it's gen or fake but papers and matching serials don't mean jack...if they can fake Swiss master piece watches then faking docs ain't a problem.

Maybe this thread should be moved to the Rolex section. Plenty of nerds there, they rarely get out :p

In any case, the watch looks gen to me; poor quality pics though

Haha thanks for participating [emoji14]
I just found out that I can use a system similar to PayPal on the website the watch is listed. Therfore if I don't receive anything or a replica I can report him and get my money back.
Knowing this I think I will try my luck with the watch..

I would consider the quality of the pictures as an indicator. If I was selling a gen Rolex I would make sure my pictures were taken with something better than a potato at the bottom of a cave

How do you know the pics are not borrowed ? ask him to set the date and time to current date and time and snap a pic, sort of like our tagged pics. At least youllknow the watch is in his hands

the watch in the pics is gen

Alright guys. The pics actually aren't that bad but I simply screenshotted them.
I know this whole thing sounds very odd, but since my payment is completely safe until I tell the system that everything is fine with the watch, I just bought took the step and bought it. The worst that can happen to me is that I receive nothing and then I will always get my money back.
When I get the watch I will take it straight to my nearby AD and let them authenticate it. Only then I will tell the system to send him my money. In my opinion I am completely safe this way.
I will let you know how it goes :)

It will be interesting to see the results. Good luck.

200 miles from your location should be either the Freiburg area or up north above Frankfurt?

It's a system that works very similar to PayPal but is exclusive to the German website where I bought the watch from. It works that way that I have 3 days after I received the item to open a dispute. If I don't, the money will be send to the other person after that period.
On the website people usually sell used clothes and accessories. I have already bought a Pam Radiomir Hommage on there and had no problems.

im with rsh.
the watch in the pics is gen but are they his pictures?
id want a tagged pic of some sort or want to do the deal in person.

if thats a rep, thats a hell of a rep.

you know what they say.. if it sounds too good to be true..

he could walk in to any pawn shop and get more than what hes asking from you.
why sell it online at such a discount?

i wouldnt risk it without seeing it in person and having someone who knows what theyre doing inspect it in person.
have him meet you at a AD. even if hes willing to, its a good sign but for that kinda deal.. id make the drive.

I guess I got screwed. The package apparently was shipped last Friday but I haven't received anything yet and the seller won't get back at me to give me a tracking number.
The good thing is, that I will get my money back without a problem.
I had kind of expected something like this.. as probably all of you did as well haha
If I get my Rolex in the future I will let you know but as it looks right now I don't think that will happen.
Sucks that I didn't get my Rolex but on the other hand I also didn't lose anything.
I should probably just stay with the TDs from now on. Who needs gen watches anyways? :D

there were several red flags here. the cheap price. the bad pics. (If I see bad pics I don't even look at it. it's usually a scam) and the fact that he wouldn't take more pics because it's already boxed up ready to mail. all signs of a scam. If I was selling a watch and already had it boxed up(which I never do until it's sold) but if I did and someone wanted another pic or something I would unbox it and snap the pics for someone.

If I didn't no s**t about watches, why would I own a Rolex? And why not do some research before selling it?

The great majority of people know next to nothing about watches, but what is the one brand that Everybody knows? Rolex. Aside from the very small percentage of the population suffering from our WIS affliction, most normal people head straight to Rolex for their "luxury" watch purchase.

It's an unknowable figure, but I'd wager that most Rolexes are purchased by non-WIS because they're nice pieces of jewelry that immediately declares that the wearer is "successful". I've never met a Rolex owner (or any other mid-range watch owner for that matter) who could tell me any facts about their watch other than the price. This is in stark contrast to us freaks in the watch forums.
