Where I need to be.
I don’t have any gold plated APs but I have solid gold ones

If it’s only visual looks you’re after, flyingtommy’s route is the way to go and maintenance can be a yearly affair and watch finish can be renewed over and over.

However, I will not call either of my watches “The Brick” because that term is reserved for the heft of the full solid gold case + bracelet version (definitely not the plated version). I think that I personally prefer gold ROOs on leather or rubber straps and gold bracelets for royal oaks.

I personally like the color and finish on tommy’s rubberclad and I think that he got the color spot on, as AP’s rose gold color is unmistakable in real life. One of the loveliest gold franken projects I’ve seen on the forums, a true gold AP classic and it deserves special mention.

Thank you my friend, I appreciate your opinion very much.

I think you are one of the few who has and has had the most Franken and Gen APs here.

There are really very few with this experience and knowledge.

Hi T,

I posted the gold APs, because if you put a pic of either of them next to yours in similar lighting, you will see that the color and "depth" of the gold tone is spot on in your project watch.
That was why I said that visually, your route is the one to go for if anyone wants an RG franken, since you already know the color formula through some intelligent research/trial and error. I have seen numerous RG frankens in the past and I was not impressed with the color or finish. Plated CAN look plated if you know what to look for, and my point was that your "plated" case, and my "solid gold" ones will look almost identical, if not identical if placed next to each other in real life. I am very much impressed with that. My post wasn't about the gens, but rather, showing how your project will make others believe that my cases were plated too should I choose to say so. ;)
Thank you for bringing the RG franken case finish to the next level. That takes knowledge and dedication.
