Hey,
I'm looking into getting my second rep after loving my C+ 126710BLNR that I bought in December last year. I figured I'd like a somewhat dressier watch and was planning on on the JLC UT Moon from ZF, this rep however is low high tier or high mid tier therefore I'm worried about the quality of the RG plating. Does anyone have experiences with this particular watch in RG? Also if anyone could point me towards areas to find good quality leather bracelets that would be appreciated!

Thanks in Advance.

Welcome

Rose gold in general in reps can be a crapshoot across all factories. A safer bet is yellow gold- ZF does a nice job with those. ZF JLC are nice reps

As far as straps - look at zic zac, tuns, Aug leather, handdn.

Best of luck

Hey, Thank you so much for your reply! Unfortunately I can only seem to find this model in RG or SS I guess I either have to take the risk or stick with SS.

Have a great rest of your day!

no worries- if it is any comfort I have two ZF JLC fifty six calendars in rose gold and they are pretty damn nice...

Good to know, I’m guessing they held up pretty well? Do you wear them often or is it more of an occasion wear? I’ve been told by people on Reddit that RG needs some extra care, e.g. cleaning it with a soft toothbrush once in a while. Have you done this yourself or should I be fine without the extra work?

Thanks again for all the help!

occasional wear only. do not ever use cape cod cloths on plating. if you keep them clean and don't abuse them it will be fine. Some people have complained of some Rolex RG models looking "brassy". I have not heard anyone complain of ZF JLC models looking off. Search for threads on here using "Silvo" metal polish wadding RARELY on brassy RG to bring out a nicer hue. Some of the pics they share are pretty impressive.

I saw that post when doing some research, I’ve had several people that had no issues with the ZF RG Plating. One person even told me his has lasted for more than 2 years, but then you see posts like this where it seems you’d have to care a lot for the watch. I guess I have some thinking to do, for me it would take some of the fun away if I come home after a night out and the first thing I have to do is make sure my watch is clean.

As far as reports go, clean your watch with a dry cloth every day after use to remove your skin's residue and it may last years.

Like a microfiber cloth? Thats enough? I’ve seen people say you should use soapy water with a toothbrush which seems like a hassle after every time you wear it considering I’d like to wear this watch a couple of times per week.

Microfiber cloth will do, as far as the reports I read go. As you say, soap'n water every day seems like a stretch, once in a while I can understand to remove excess acidic oils from crevices. Any substance you'll use, even plain water, will have its pH value that will more or less slowly attack your plating.

Soap water? Every day?

I don't trust rep gaskets enough to do that every day. 😂 I know that it's too OCD-ishy, and most reps probably even have the factory-rated 30-50m WR, but as long as my watch wasn't externally WR-tested, my motto is: Better be safe than sorry. 😆
