Excellent review! Thanks for the "to the point" comparisons. I still think that the TCV7LVX insert is just as you described to be more of the olive drab color which is much closer to my gen 50th anniv. LV insert color as described by the R factory propaganda back then as a "British racing green chosen specifically for the 50th anniversary celebration for submariner" I've always wondered what exactly a Brittish racing color had to do with a divers watch ? And you are correct about there are at least 2 separate shades of green on the R sub LV's. Honestly IMHO the TC V7LVX insert is as gen as I need, save the time consuming sourcing ventures to spend rediculous prices for an insert. As the years go by, each of these inserts take on various shades of the original color anyway.
Thanks again for a great review!

totally agreed mate! the thing i like about the aluminium bezel is the aging, the character and patina that comes with age. unbeatable.

so as the review says (as redsocks says), we have to pull the trigger on the jf LN.
thank you for this deep review between tc v6 and gen.
I think this will go in the NWBIG.
Am I wrong?

I'm wondering one thing (it's not directly tied to this thread):
Subs - are there post-2007 GENs without rehaut or is it some sort of fantasy model ?
Based on informations I've gathered, since 2007 there are no subs without rehaut. Or are there ?
Thanks for clarification !

according to https://www.bernardwatch.com/blog/things-you-should-know-when-buying-a-submariner/ the rehaut engraving is a transitional feature of the 16610 from 2007-2009.

watchuseek forum has info that the rehaut engraving is present in the late z, m or v serials.

so i would say that its not a fantasy model

Hi I just received my JF16610LN from a TD and was wondering if the crystal and mag are close to gen or need to be changed as well as the insert and datewheel. I read your whole thread here but couldnt find any info about the crystal, mag and etched crown. Thank you for the wealth of information!

Thanks for a great review and sweet side by sides! Unfortunately for the NWBIG comment above, this watch has been copied so many times and still has the usual suspect issues with rehaut (angle and or depth)/ crystal/ lugs/ case thickness/ font color! IT IS getting better, man is it ever. It just seems if we could get some of the brains from this forum to go overseas and do QC pre-production, we'd end up shaking out a perfect model. I know some users here have had a bit of direct influence with the watch dealers/ makers but something always gets lost in translation.

JF has done a nice job, especially at this price point but we got a little ways to go before this is NWBIG... with that being said, I'll be getting in touch with Angus any day now!!

THANK YOU FOR THE REVIEW!!!! My disappointment is in the 6 digit submariners ability to accept genuine parts. so I'm looking at the 5 digit again, and my only concern has been the movement being secured in the case and the crown guards as it seems the bracelet issue has been fixed except the off set of the lugs on the upper right side. Which model has the best crown guards and does anyone have a recent shot of theirs to show? especially recently received.

I'd like to get the JF but after owning TC v6 over 2years and getting rid of it (regretfully) I feel like I would be down grading.. Specially with JF's "new" crown guards being pointy!

You can take a JF, but you definitely need to mod it.
start with crystal... and the whole watch changes...
anyway, the SEL are terrible in every version, rehaut or not...

Don't be so defeatist ;)

When, for example, someone says the gen gasket doesn't fit, they often don't mean it's impossible to fit, they mean it's going to take some casework that they really don't want to do but will do if you have built a good relationship with them over some time.

I haven't seen a v9 yet but I will soon. If you look at some of the stuff some of our modders here have done, to the old BP SD for example, it's never necessarily black and white.

I don't think will fit unfortunately... the V6 case had no gen spec in the space between the lugs, so the SEL should be larger than the JF one, but you can still try on put it! :)
