If you can live with the two flaws I mentioned, it’s the best you can get for the money. A solid watch for a cheap price. But don’t expect to Franken this someday :)

If you ever feel like getting rid of your hulkmariner let me know!

With v9 insert (better IMO)

Yeah I think the V9 insert comes together with the dial a bit better, the ebay one contrasts a lot with the dial

Ok, two updates:
- last weekend I made the Pool test (just by mistake) but it works without any issues. So watch is tested as water proof. At least for having a shower :)
- today I catched a used gen LV insert and all my waiting and searching for the correct green insert comes to an end. I’m so happy to close this project with a final insert soon. I do also have the gen bezel, but gen retaining ring didn’t arrive yet. So I still need to wait...
Will post pictures once done

Here we go with gen insert
With indoor lightning it’s not that obvious to see differences between Noob v9 and gen but outside it’s day and night. Love it

Thanks man. Yeah without a gen insert, Hulk isn’t really good idea for Frankening. All other inserts bothered me somehow.

Very nice work, really good read. Thank you for sharing

Incidentally, What are your thoughts on the noob v9 pearl? Is it whiter than the noob dial/hands lume? I have one on order but haven’t seen a v9 in real life yet.

Thanks man. V9 has a nice pearl IMO and lume was not an issue - at least on mine. However, in sunlight it is not showing the correct apple green like gen. But don’t worry, all others have the same problem;)

mega12 thanks for this wonderful comparison. It really answers a lot of questions.

For a newbie would you suggest a regmariner no date. Looking at getting a black regmariner from naarika. Is there any way to change the movement to a 2836/24?

Yeah, Regmariner no Date it quite nice. IMO no need to change anything. No date issues, no cyclops issues, bezel has different construction, but who cares. Really nice watch for the money. Usually it should be possible to switch from 2813 to 2836 movement (I did it with my Noob), but honestly I would keep the 2813 as long as it lasts. Doesn’t make sense to put money in here. Sometimes, 2813 rotor noise is even more quiet than 2836 and so on.
Apart from that, Noob no date (I think v8) is also a very good choice for the money. I even saw some v6s Noob no date at intime, which seems still available. If you can get this, this would be a killer. V6S bracelet and clasp is the most closest to gen.

Thanks for all the advice. I went ahead and ordered a regmariner no date. Maybe will put in a 2836 in future once I am more comfortable with modding watches.

Some mods still to do.
Look at this, BP dial has way too white markers compared to hands.
I will purchase a gen dial and swap markers to BP dial I guess.
