Hi gang. Like many of you, I love the Reverso. The clean lines, unique heritage and seeming timelessness of this iconic watch have called out to me since I first saw one many years ago. I'm excited to say I finally have one to call my own.

I just took delivery of a used gen manual-wind Classique (ref 250.8.86), purchased from a jeweler here in the US. It's in great shape and included the single-wing JLC deployant clasp, which fits my wrist nicely. The case is 38.8x23, which is smaller than what I am used to, but since I was hunting for a traditional classic Reverso it's exactly what I wanted.

It arrived on a non-JLC black croc strap, which looks nice but tapers too much for the deployant and is a little too dressy for my intended everyday use. I've already commissioned a traditional looking tan ostrich strap that'll give it a more casual look.

I posted a quick shot in yesterday's wristie thread, but I thought those of us who also hang out in the JLC forum might appreciate some more pics, so I just snapped a few sitting here at my desk. Enjoy!

I'm super jealous. That's a gorgeous watch. I like these more than the duos or the display backs because they feel more true to the original purpose of the reverso creation.

Thanks guys! And although I may never actually see the movement, it was that nod to tradition that had me looking for a manual rather than quartz version.

I love that watch. As pointed out earlier, I tend to favour, too, Reverso without display backs. Keeps them faithful to their heritage! And makes for a great engraving canvas, for people who have that kind of cojones!

Interesting that you mention the engraving. I'm considering doing it at some point in the future. I never sell my watches, so I'm not worried about about the potential valuation impact. Like the rest, this watch will likely end up with one of my kids at some point and having a simple engraving - maybe just a last initial - would give it a more personal legacy touch.

If you guys haven't seen it yet, JLC has a fun on-line tool that lets you play around and do some "what-ifs" with their stock engraving options (http://personalisation.jaeger-lecoultre.com/en#/accueil). Of course, for a price they also offer a fully custom engraving service. I haven't gotten my own quote, but on-line rumor has it that 3 initials can run nearly $1,000. I can only imagine what a custom job would cost...

I hear you on the engraving! I am not a serial watch flipper neither, and the watches I buy (or am gifted) usually will get an engraving of some sort to commemorate the event, date, or to make said watch personal. I tend to only have engraved the watches that I consider special to me, not the drunk-on-a-Saturday-night-online-impulsive-buy watches. Hence, the Tissot my wife gifted me when we got engaged has a quote and the date engraved, and the Seiko she bought me on our honeymoon has the word "Portugal" and the date engraved, as this watch was bought while strolling in the streets of Porto!

Hi guys... well, I promised some pics when the new custom ostrich strap arrived and it just so happened that I was wearing the Reverso today when the strap showed up in the mailbox.

I had it made by a gentleman named Doug Jones - his shop is called Jones in Tokyo and I found him on Estsy (https://www.etsy.com/shop/JonesInTokyoLeather?ref=l2-shopheader-name).

Doug did a great job with the strap. The leather is exactly the color and butter-soft texture I had hoped for. The spec'd dimensions are spot on and the strap fits the lugs and deployant like a glove. I couldn't be happier and the great price (under $90) was the icing on the cake.

The ostrich strap certainly gives the Reverso a different look - more casual than the shiny black gator and it provides what I feel is a more "daily" appearance. See if you like it...

Looks fantastic - the color of the strap really compliments the white dial.
I guess the thickness makes up for the lack of plastic inserts - no lug exposure at all.
Wear it in good health minty.

Tan Ostrich is the perfect leather to casualize the Reverso. I've always been convinced of it, and your pictures just confirm this thought!

When (if) I do purchase the "tribute to 1931" Reverso replica, I intend to have something similar made.

Wear in good health!
