Almost every pam super rep almost 99% like gens watch.

Put nice strap on that pam, even the salespeople difficult to tell if that pam is rep.

Most of salesman aren't professionals in what they sell at all.

As for gens and reps - to sell gens you don't need to learn by heart ALE's rep guide and be able to tell apart rep and gen. You just need to know some facts about company, it's history and models. And know, how to sell them. That's all.

Used to own multiple gen PAMs now down to two, the 048 & 392. They both represent particularly important times of my life so I'm holding on to them mainly for their sentimental value.

@OP - ultimately it depends what you want in a watch. Do you want a watch that LOOKS like the real thing, or a watch that IS the real thing? If the 005 is enough of a grail for you to want it to BE the real thing then the gen will win you over irrespective of the price (assuming you can afford it of course). But if the fact your rep is extremely close in looks to the gen is enough for you, then pocket the additional $4.5k and never look back!

I'm feeling the same way as many of you... After having my 3rd awful experience at an AD today, and having contemplated dropping 4-5 figures on a new Panerai, I've decided screw it... Save the money, join this forum, and have multiple Pams for a fraction the price! I have a great job, but still lack the silver spooning douchey - ness to feel comfortable in the ADs where they truly seem to never get off their high horse. Rant over!
