Hi guys!!

I would like to buy a cape cod cloth to use on my v7 116610ln....is it a good choice??? wouldn't the bracelet be too shiny after the treatment?? Or will it give more "gen" feeling to the watch??

Also, i've read that someone gave a "oil bath to the bracelet"...what does that mean? and what's the purpose of it?

Thanks!

I use baby oil in a Tupperware container. Soak the bracelet for 24 hours then wipe off. Metal is porous and will hold onto the oil to give a smooth feel. You can search the threads and find other oils that members may prefer.

Terrible idea. Rolex bracelets are brushed and CC clothes will make them shiny. Unless that's the look you want this is not a good idea. Oil bath if you are just trying to make it smoother.

Yes! It really gives a good feel to the bracelet! After 24 hours ( doesn't have to be that long), just wipe with microfiber towel and put back on watch! I do clean the bracelet first. I use an ultrasonic cleaner, around $30 on Amazon.

Bassman3401, hey bud, you ask a great question. CC cloths are great for the polished case sides and even to shine up the crown. Some people like to shine up the bezel too. When you rub a cc cloth on a brushed bracelet it makes it look polished and if you rub rwally hard it will rake away the brushing lines and turn it into a polished metel..its great for the polished center midlinks on some models. If you are just looking to clean your bracelet I suggest good old soap and water.. Also I use a light machine oil vath not baby oil but ive heard it basically the same.Honestly my best advise if you are looking to remove scratches and marks on a vrushed beacelet is to buy a couple cheap brushed bracelets, grab some 220 to 1000 grit sandpaper, maybe even a dremmel and metel buffer mixed grit kit and start praticing on what works best! I have found that its best to polish out any big scratches and then redo the brushing rather than just brushing the hell out of a scratch or mark..Alternatively for those who prefer more hands off im sure we havensome conus.mods who can perform this service. One last thought. I know you gave owned gen subs and can easily spot the differencenin brightness of metel between gen bracelets and rep bracelets. If used very lightly the cc cloth can brigjten up the bracelet without removing the brushmarks...I personally like the look of a darker grey well worn bracelet.and for all the polished areas to be bright and shiney as hell, especially side links and bezel..jusr personal preference!

you use a specific fluid with the cleaner?

All I use is warm water with Dawn Dish Soap. There are several different minute cycles on the cleaner. The most is 180 seconds. I will run 4 or 5 cycles of cleaning, wipe off well then soak overnight or longer in the baby oil. Wipe off then put back on bracelet. You may not get every drop off but if you dont, your wrist will be really smooth and smells like a baby's butt.

I use cape cod cloths for all the polished parts of my watches. works really well.
obviously not for brushed parts, but if your careful you can work around the brushed parts.
alternatively, if you are very careful, and infrequent, you can use the cape cod cloths on brushed parts to brighten them up a little...I dont on any of my watches though, and as far as CC cloths are concerned,
they are strictly relegated to polished parts.

I just use Mothers mag and aluminum Polish. Removes scratches and leaves your brushed surfaces as they were.

i use the white or the fine scotchbrite and it works well on brushed surfaces.
Capecod does tend to rather polish if u do too much

Best way and the way I do my gen submariner.

Girls have these 3D rectangle nail buffers with 4 x sides. Can't remember but it's written on each side - course to the last side which is buff (or polish)

Removes all scratches and maintains brushed finish.

Obviously you buff in direction of brush on bracelet to maintain uniform finish
