Replica 3135. Can the sliding pinion gear be replaced without removing automatic works?

I have a replica 3135 movement. The sliding pinion (clutch) gear on the keyless works is missing two teeth, and the small set wheel that it engages with is missing at least half of the teeth. So I can wind, but not set the hands or calendar.

I was able to access the tiny set wheel relatively easily, but the sliding gear on the stem seems harder to get to. The teardown videos show removing the majority of the automatic works before removing the cover over the winding assembly - stamped with 3135.

Does anyone know if this winding assembly cover can be removed safely without first removing the balance wheel and automatic works?

Winding assembly need to be taken out. Balance can stay.

Question - where did the missing teeth go ? I assume you found each one of them and safely removed them from the movement so you won't have a surprises later with jammed movement :p
Good luck!

Yeah, I did think about that. Unfortunately it's going to be very unlikely I find the missing teeth.:D

It looks like I can get a new complete movement from eBay for around $100, so this repair is going to be just for "academic curiosity".

I was able to remove the winding cover, I discovered that if I removed these two gears first, the cover comes off without too much trouble.
