Replacement 2836?

Some time ago I purchased a no-date sub replica. I was told it had an A2836 modified to resemble an A3131.

It looks great, and worked great for about a month. Is it possible to drop a new A2836 into the case, or are there specifics such as lack of date wheel or incompatible hands, that will make this unworkable?

If it does in fact have a 2836 in it , then a 2836 will work , you can just remove the date wheel (and day wheel if it has one )

Would that require a special spacer or anything?
I'm new at this obviously.

A stock 2836 will have problems because the hands will be too close the dial. You need clearance for the hands, and for this you need an H4 canon pinion and possibly fourth wheel and hour wheel. It may be possible to buy a movement with these installed.

well that depends on the hands , alot of the newer reps have the long tube hands
