This has been such a fun thread! I had to pull out some old albums in order to get the polishing beat rate correct.

It wouldn't hurt to tape off the brushed areas.

Thanks, I received one CapeCod cloth as part of an exchange a few days ago, so I'll give it a try this week. That's if I can stand the smell for any length of time :)

Haven't got around to it yet. I was about to, then I opened up the CapeCod, and closed it again seconds later - hate that smell. I picked up some latex gloves too, chemicals don't agree with my skin :D

Isn't that the girl from one of Jason Statham's fliks? You could probably polish to sound of bullet casings hitting the floor, or just shots being fired in one those movies :)

Do you mean the CapCod makes the titanium finish a different colour? If so, any pictures or description of what it looks like?

For scratches on the titantium , what do you use? I saw some thread mentioning some eraser pen...any feedback....actually for the titanium casing, they are merly coated surface, right. Not 100% titanium, right?

I once received a titanium case with lots of light scratches on the case and bezel, and a few deeper ones on case - fully expected to get it this way, mind you. For the light scratches I used an ink eraser (the blue or green ones), has to be ink though, pencil ones don't do a thing. Start off rubbing lighlty, followed by wiping with a lint free cloth. If needed, apply more pressure with the eraser. Repeat a few times, and you should see the scratches get lighter, then disappear. Before you start, remember to make note of which way the grain is running, and always follow the grain.

If the scratches are deeper, the next best remedy is to use one of those 3M ScotchBrite pads (Green or Red I believe - I've been using the green ones). It has to be 3M though, not the cheap knock-offs which are basically plastic fibers. Using this pad (I always fold it over), go with the grain, again starting with very light pressure. Gradually increase the pressure if at first you don't see results.

Using these two methods, I've turned some nasty looking titanium into nearly new looking cases - they do wonders. :D

Are you talking about the pen with the fiberglass tip, or the pen ink eraser? I can attest to the fact that the pen eraser definitely works. I also bought one of those red pens with the fiberglass tips, but found that an ink eraser and 3M ScotchBrite pad work so well, that I never had to resort to using it.

Holy cow, i have used it. Yeap from 30 cm away, it seems that the hairline scratch has being buffered off 40%.

Holy SHIT!!!! when i put it 10 cm under the bright light. There are a few hundred tiny "Polished lines" if you know what i meant! The Panerai casing is suppose to be mirror polished. There is a swirl.....

Please do not use it ! I have used it on my Gen PAM 111. Thank goodness, it is the lug area.

Are you referring to the ink eraser or 3M pad? Please clarify what you're referring to. Also you mention using "it" on a 111. Why on earth would you do that? We are talking about titanium cases here - the 111 is a stainless steel case with a polished finish, completely different subject. For 111 cases, CapeCod should be used, followed up with polishing.
