Update 2: Alright guys, I got it – it is possible to pry it up, but you have to do it from a different spot that I initially missed. I’ll take some photos and post them for others in the future.
Glad you got it off, however speaking from experience and learning the hard way myself: Prying from the midsection: only do as a last resort/ backup.

Best option and the right way to do it is press out the crystal, gasket, and retaining ring together from the case... and then separate the 3 parts by pressing the crystal+gasket out from the metal retaining ring. KJ2020's tutorial for a sub is helpful in the steps here.

For others suggesting a razor blade to pry up the retaining ring from the bottom of the metal ring: In the case of the sea dweller, using a razor blade to pry the retaining ring loose/upwards is a more difficult option vs sub/GMT, due to the recessed portion on the SD43 case (that isn't present on Sub's/GMT's)

this thread has some of that discussion: https://forum.replica-watch.info/th...0-failed-crystal-swap.10992614/#post-12071466

Good luck

So you are saying to remove the movement and place the midcase in the press and pop the crystal/gasket out? WIth my luck the gasket will stay in the retaining ring. LOL

The rehault is part of the case. So unless you are very strong it won't budge....

So your case isn't constructed like this?

in the case of the SeaDwller43, the retaining ring actually sits in a recessed groove unlike the sub/gmt pictured above. This makes it extremely difficult to use the method above from you picture to get under the retaining ring. See pictures:

Yes. Maybe a modified crystal puller could get it, but... I just took the movement out and grabbing my press. fingers crossed haha

cajun600 got it no problem. woo woo!

also used some dies to press the crystal from the ring after it was removed from the mid-case. everything still looks good. now to fuss with the cyclopes alignment for a while to get it perfect (reason I removed it to begin with)

You can try to pry with the edge I showed on screenshots above but I think it might be easier when you remove crystal first. The tension created by crystal on gasket and then on retaining ring can make things harder.

Agree, removing crystal in first place is very helpful. In my case was my bad that I overlooked there is a point where I can pry off.
