I asked myself how many 7032 do we have on RWI. I haven't found a thread dedicated to this watch. If you want to share yours, please post photos and details of the different parts. I would have been pleased to have such informations when i was looking for the different parts myself.

So, i start :
- DW Case/Dial/hour & minute hands
- Yuki bracelet/endlinks
- Phong big orange second hand
- Gen sub dial hands
- Gen plexi
- Athaya crown and tube
- Valjoux 7734 with 45min chrono

As an envious non owner, I do not approve this thread.

Also, if someone wants to sell one, I'll wait in line :)

I feel sorry to put this under your noze. :(
There is a few every year on sales. Even if looking for the different parts are super exciting, buying a built one is time saving.

Ok, here is mine Azel. This could turn into a nice spot for a compilation of home plates.

Yes Azel it wears super soft on the wrist. Old Rolex USA clasp from a Datejust I used to own.

The 555 just barely work. Have to use a thinner spring pin.

I've just ordered 380 end links from WSO...should be better than my 458.
For the crown, honestly regarding how expensive is a gen better go for Adrian's. Except if you're lucky enough to found a super cheap one, but i have looked for months and they are all way to expensive. A bit like the plexi, but if you want a really nice 7032 you have to spend the 200$.
Your minute hand comes from DW?

In the 7 odd years I've been on this forum, I have bought sold and traded many, many watches. And yet the only one I truly regret letting go is the good old home plate. It will absolutely be my first vintage gen, once I sell the kidneys, build a time machine and get myself back to the 1970s to find one.

Can we make that a time machine large enough for several of us? Does anyone know the original retail price of a 1972 Monte Carlo? I have been currently seeing the in the mid 20k range!

Of course! Surely I could build a bus-sized time machine for us all to go, if I sell some other major organs too. It would be worth it!

I read a great article on these some time ago (if I find it again, I'll share here) but I seem to remember that the original retail price was very reasonable. The high resale value is down to the fact they were not made for long (2 years), and didn't sell well at the time, which I cannot understand.

I was in Geneva in 1974 and shopped Bucherer while there. The retail price on the Rolex 5513 was $730 and a new Cosmograph was $1030. I am guessing the home plate would have been $700-$800.

I have seen the invoice of a 1016 at 106$ in 1963 when officers in Navy were offered to buy the watch. Good deal

700$ remain expensive 40y ago. What was the price of a Daytona to compare?

The Daytona was first known as the Cosmograph in the early 70's

I hope to be part of this exclusive club by the new year!

I wasn't even born yet, but if we calculate the value of $1000 dollars now back in the 70's it would be equivalent to about $6000 today. Still not bad! =)
