Has anyone attempted to put a 3255 (e.g. VR3255) into a Raffles 2836 case? I have asked Ken and he doesn't know if it would work. I speculate that it might because many of the factories offering modern day Daydate 36s offer them with either a 2836 or a 3255 - suggesting they are interchangeable (i.e. same stem height, similar thickness). Granted this still leaves the question of whether the Raffles case specifically can accommodate the width of the 3255, which is certainly wider than a 2836. Any thoughts (or experience on this) gratefully received.

You can fit a 3135 in a raffles case. For that you would have to get a special spacer and you have to grind off the caseback for the rotor to spin freely. Since the 3135 and 3155 had the same diameter and height, I would assume that a 3155 could also be fitted in a raffles case.
But what about a 3255? The 3255 also has the same diamtere as the 3135 and 3155, but what is most important in this case is the height.
Sadly you can't find this information online :/ Or at least I couldn't...
So i would say, if the 3255 is the same height as the 3155, it will fit.

Thanks. I know the 3135 fits the 2824 case. The reason for wanting to put the 3255 in the 2836 case is that the 2836 does not have drilled lugs, which makes it better for Daydate builds
I guess the 2836 would also take a 3135 and therefor also a 3155/3255. Just same thing as the 2824 case.

Yes this is correct, which is why you must use the 2824 case (drilled lugs) if you wish to use a 3135 movement.
Do you suppose the 3255 fits the 2836 case?

This is exactly the question... If the 3255 is "higher" then the 3135, then the 2836 case could fit. But unfortunately I don't have a 3255 movement on hand to check
Another option for those who wish to avoid tricky DWOs, some sellers appear to have a 2834 with Rolex day and date wheels already installed. From what I can work out, not just Rolex font but also correct placement for day and date.
