I never heard any mention of this particular site until it came up in the AE thread.
Does anyone frequent there?

I was on for about 2 minutes just to see what it was about and I thought I was going to hang myself.
Should I have given it more time or is it completely full of stupid questions?

Just a reddit isn't it?

Just a subreddit on reddit... and half of the posts seem to be "who has the best sub" and "I saw this replica at replicawatches.cn, should I pick the swiss one?"

Yup, hit the nail on the head. Other questions involve: "is this site trustworthy?" Then the only reasonable comment will be "replica-watch.info has a list of trusted dealers you might want to look at"

Reddit is a cesspool of idiocy, e.g spouting unfunny memes and puns. 4chan boards (other than /b/, usually) have more in-depth discussion than the content posted there. Avoid at all costs.

I browse /r/fashionreps every now and then and occasionally see the reptime subreddit being mentioned. Compared to us, they're nowhere as developed or knowledgeable as our community.

/r/fashionreps does have some parallels to us though such as 'trusted sellers', an understanding that factories not dealers make reps, QC photos, v2,3,4,5,6... etc of a rep (which they call batches), and the noobs asking who has the best xxx.

But r/reptime was just cringe for me to read, but having a look just then, it seems things are getting better, with more people improving their basic understanding of the different factories, versions, movements, and dealers. In fact RWI seemed to have been mentioned a bit on there, but compared to our rep forums, r/reptime still has a long way to go in terms of improving their depth and scope of knowledge about rep watches

The important thing to note about /r/reptime is that the sub is only like one to two months old. Most people likely stumble across it from browsing reddit, and then take an interest in the fact that this world exists, and that reptime is at best the tip of the iceberg. No experienced rep fans are on there because they're all at RWI, RWG or repgeek. So it's literally just a bunch of newbies trying to explore a whole new world they didn't know existed - the blind leading the blind.

I ended up coming across reptime on reddit, and then did more searching, and that's actually how I came across RWI.

Six weeks on this site, and my chequing account absolutely hates me...

That reddit is a shame to the rep community, all the threads there are people begging where to buy a replica and asking if some scam sites are legit.....
They do 0 research and just wait till they're spoon-fed. There's absolute no in-depth discussion in there, it's all just begging for info.

Now that this is somewhat revived though, I'll admit that I frequent both RWI and Reptime (relatively new to the hobby but I've got the bug and I'm on here reading stuff every day it seems). Definitely still think the people here are more knowledgeable/experienced, and the legit guys over there likely are on RWI as well. I feel like reptime has gotten better though, and they do refer people to RWI for TD info, etc. but still plenty of low-effort posts (i.e. Every nice watch post will have at least one comment saying simply "w2c". Absolutely no effort.)

Appreciate that. Yes I help moderate that subreddit, but started here. I try to keep discussions as focused as possible and remove previously answered questions. There are a lot of hyper specific "will my watch get through XXXX country customs?" or "what does this status mean on tracking?", but for the most part I've noticed a nice shift in user participation and quality of content over the past year.

Because of how reddit works, it allows 'dumb questions' to just show up right on the feed, so I feel that can give the impression of 'dumb redditors', when in reality the decent content (and sometimes downright hilarious) gets upvoted to the most popular posts.

RWI is still the place I go to both browse detailed info, and contribute detailed info.

reddit is great to get an idea what is hot right now - upvoted and discussed topics pop up on top regardless of the brand. Here you might miss a new release cause you don't frequent the brand section.

RWI is great for in depth research and as a database. Lots of knowledge.
