QF Factory Daytona?

I’m actually talking to Steve about Daytona 126509. He is recommending QF because of rear transparent cover. Anybody buy one of these from Steve and QF?

Who the f**k cares about a transparent case back? We don't wear our watches upside down AFIK.

QF is alright on some models. The QF 116519 Meteorite Daytona is nice. Far from the best but a relatively affordable alternative to the other more expensive meteorite Daytonas.

If you are looking for a 12 series Daytona models that has not yet been released by CF, your best option is to wait a bit. Chances are they'll nail it like they have on the 126500.

Jtime said I could return to them and they'd have the factory work on it. But that seems like a lot of trouble to mail to China. I don't mind spending a few bucks to get her working.

My point is that for my model the QF is not good.

Who is "Steve" y'all keep mentioning? And, how do I reach him?

I personally avoided the old series 1165xx with QF specifically because of the movement. It has been documented that the movement used in those QF 1165xx is of a significant lesser quality than DD4130 (what's used in Clean/BTF 1165xx). I did order a 126506 QF just to get a good weighted base without breaking the bank. Will update when it comes in.

Steve is a TD from TOW, or TheOneWatches. Check TD list.

Hi Eric, great first post, shame about the Daytona but dont send it back to China you'll probably lose it to customs. Try to get it fixed locally. Welcome to the forum.

Hi and welcome. I have 2 watches with the same SH movement from APS and personally had no issues, my watchmaker also took a look at it and agrees that is not a bad movement. Unfortunately, sometimes, things like this happen with reps but i am very happy that you found a watchmaker that can work on it. If done correctly a service will improve your watch a lot and it Will last many, many years. Good luck!

Did you order the diamond or lume marker version from Steve?
His pictures show non concentric sub dial brushing with diamond, didn't see a lume version.
Puretime has both, but no replica pictures.

I did not order from Steve. I changed my order because they could not source one that is Tungsten weighted. All they had gotten from QF was the normal SS weight. I also checked with 2 other sellers and no one has that specific 126506 reference in tungsten, no matter what dial.

I'm aware of the flaw on the dial, but I was gonna get a custom dial anyways, so it wouldn't matter. I was not able to find a custom bezel, which is the other issue I ran into that turned me away from the build. Another issue was the weight. It is 170g, which is heavier than your usual SS, but still 100g less than what this reference is supposed to weight. The tungsten is only in the case or case back, and some links, which is not enough.

For right now I would stay away from this reference until Clean or BTF release their version of it so we can have cheaper/more accessible mods. Visible flaws rn include dial sunburst, markers, bad bezel, and still too little weight.

I do have a Tungsten weighted 116505 with Clean parts coming in. Planning on swapping the dial with a meteorite dial. The guy who sold it to me said it was 226g, which is gen weight. If the case shape and engraving turns out good, and the bracelet is good, I will try a full Tungsten build for the 126506.

Please look at the sunburst of the inner dial. It is not "individual" sunburst... how to explain

Each of the subdial should have it's own "sunburst" originating from the subdial point.

You can see QF the subdial all originates from the center of the watch.

Completely wrong. Such a important detail already missed.

What can you tell about 126503 bt QF with black dial and gold rings (as a backup white dial)? I really like this combo, but can't find any options by other factories.

Come on guys I am no watch expert but at least try to do some research before asking the questions

Already you can tell that the subdial rings are too thick and the bezel font for UNITS PER HOUR is not correct.

If you are hell bent on a dial swap Id look into APSF as a donor. Very nice tungsten case similar to Gold Factory in weight and finishing(aprox 145grams). Its rumored they use the same case supplier. Cheaper. SH movement instead of DD but that isnt a problem IMO.

Id only stick with Gold Factory if you planned on keeping the dial.

Edit: ZF also just released a tungsten 116 series. Might be worth a look.

if I find gold factory maybe initially I would keep the gray dial as standard. however a tf confirmed to me that GF is active, while another recommended QF saying that GF makes a poor quality tu steno with terrible finishing and, but I think that at this point it is not in their interest to sell this factory.
