Hey

I am looking at a Daytona, listed as QF Factory. Not a factory I am familiar with.

Have you any experience as to who they are and their quality?

(Disclaimer - there is every chance I am going to look stupid, and it is really obvious- but my mind has gone blank)

They’re mostly only on Puretime, and they offer a lot of models. Overall, their quality is meh. Clean and maybe BT > BT > QF > KING. Things that are bad on QF: bezel font, subdial finish, subdial doesn’t have sunburst on some models or at least not a very visible one, etc.

Really for Daytonas you just want Clean. The advantages of BT are a better case shape, slightly better construction (clean crown is bad, same with the chrono pushers). The disadvantages are generally a worse dial, hands, finish, and bezel than clean.

The best Daytona is a BT base with clean dial, hands, and bezel IMO. For yellow or rose gold Daytonas, just go stock clean and if you want, get a gen crystal.

@bhehe6813 what an excellent concise summary. TBH I've not been keeping up with the current Daytona rep offerings, so found this really useful. You should do it as a "Current Daytona Choices" post and get it stickied!

Thanks so much. So helpful. Appreciate it

Last year QF released a 116519 meteorite that looked pretty good. This past March I waited a month for a TD to source it and I just gave up. Went with a CF Gray Racing dial. No regrets.

I think it depends on which particular Daytona you want. I have ordered 10 rep Daytonas in the last 6 months and I ask the TDs each time which was the best factory for each one of those - the recommendations are seldom the same factory for each specific Daytona model. For example, the most recent one I ordered was a 116509 blue face. Even though the TD (Steve at theonewatches) can get that model from all factories, he recommended QF specifically for that model. I waited almost 3 months for it even though I could have gotten the BTF version sooner.

116509 blue face by QF isn’t that great imo. I think the BTF is better. The big issue on the QF one are the subdials, they don’t have an individual sunburst, and the bezel font is bad.

Here’s gen:

You can see how each subdial has its own finish compared to the dial, the QF one blends in with the dial instead.

@DonkeyHoTay - Steve appears to be a straight shooter. Other TDs tell you what they think is the best and it just happens to be the one that was either RL'd or the one factory they have a great relationship with.

For example: A particular TD that many have purchased from has been saying Clean Factory takes 10-14 days to QC but every other TD can get anything from Clean within 2-3 days. I get suspicious when I hear things like that. Same TD will have 24 hour QC sales every so often which makes you wonder if the watches he's trying to get rid of were RL'd.

Any best way to tell the difference between a Clean and King 116520?

I'll say avoid them atm, keep en eye on them until a later stage.

This is what I am doing now, but then again, this is my personal opinion and my rep preference.

you're right about many things, but the details are so small that in real life no one will ever see the differences we see here on 10X photos. We often get into unnecessary problems.
You know what? You are right, and I honestly couldn't care less if the guy standing next to me in the subway can see it or not. But then as a rep owner, I can see it. So no details are too small to ignore, just personal preference and if I choose to ignore the flaw.

If you are booking for perfection, you need a Rolex factory one.

I’m actually talking to Steve about Daytona 126509. He is recommending QF because of rear transparent cover. Anybody buy one of these from Steve and QF?
