This thread is being started for people like me......
This thread is not predominantly here to help you choose whether you should accept the watch you are being offered or not. Only you can decide if you want the watch or not. This thread is desirably here so people can see different variations of watches and different examples of reps. It is here so people can look at the QC pictures and see the comments of more experienced rep collectors. Learning from the comments and variations in the quality of the reps over time. This knowledge can then be shared with new members in the future only enhancing the collective reason we are all fundamentally here for, that being, to be around like minded watch enthusiasts with a passion for quality reps.
People like me love watches and have several around the house, I used to collect Swatch Watches in my youth and although I have given my children several of them over the years I still have quite a few of them. I also have several other various watches that are not expensive and I have always dreamed of owning a high end watch. Unfortunately, I have never been in a position to purchase a high end expensive watch. I can, however, purchase a rep from time to time if I save my money wisely.
So that brings me to this place, with like minded people around me who love watches and who want to purchase a good example of a rep for either show or daily use.
The problem is, being new to the rep game I am not as experienced as other members who have been dipping their toes into the rep world pond for several years. There are members on this forum who have seen all types of rep examples from appallingly bad to excitingly good! Furthermore, a lot of the people who have found their way to this forum have been stung in the past loosing their money to fake dealers.
So...... That is where this thread comes in. I don't want to be reliant on someone else to have to point out the good, the bad and the ugly points to a watch I may or may not be purchasing. I wan't to be able to do this myself. But I will not be able to do this without experience and education. It is not enough for someone to simply purchase a watch and learn from that experience about future purchases. If I buy an Omega today but want a Rolex in the future, my experience of purchasing an Omega will not really help me in deciding if the Rolex I am being offered is a good example or not.
Before I trained to be a Midwife I had experienced an witnessed the birth of my own 2 children. But by simply having these two experiences, it did not qualify me to deliver any babies or care for any pregnant women! My point is, without training, education and support I would not have been able to do my job. So without the education and support of my peers here on the forum, how am I supposed to know what is and isn't a good example of a rep?
Not everyone is going to agree with me and I respect that, but there are other members on the forum who would be happy to share their thoughts, insights and experience to new members. So this thread is for you, and those people who wish to share and help.
SO post your pictures in this thread, tell us what you have been told your watch is and people can pass on their thoughts about the watch.
OK, so I will start it off. Below are the QC pics of an Omega CrPO 42mm. I was told that this watch was from the Noob factory by the TD offering me the watch. I later found out it was from the L factory. When I spoke to the TD about it being an L factory they apologized for any mistake and clarified to me later that the watch was indeed an L factory watch.
Comments received from other members about this watch where that generally this watch was a good example. The only thing I did not like was the pearl was not centralized as per gen watch pearl. On the CrPO the pearl is central within the triangle and equal in distance from all the sides and corners of the triangle. This isn't the case on all gen Omegas, but it is for the CrPO.
It would be good if there could be several threads for different brands (one for Rolex, one for Omega and so on), however, as I am expecting this thread to be removed I have not started any other threads.
Moderator, please feel free to move this thread If it has been started in the wrong place, I just thought that a "flame free zone" would be the most appropriate place for it.
