I'm brand new here and new to reps, so just looking for a little advice. I'd like to preface my post that I do understand that this is a rep and I'm not expecting gen quality. Anyway, I'm in the process of purchasing my first rep and would like some guidance on QC pictures. Here are my questions and hopefully someone can help.

  1. Is it reasonable to ask to see the watch on a timegrapher?
  2. Is it reasonable to ask to see a picture of the movement?
  3. If I would like some advice on whether or not the bezel alignment would be considered acceptable to most, where in the forum would it be best to post?
  4. Is this bezel alignment off or is it just the angle of the of the photo...would you be okay with it.

Many thanks, in advance.

Hello and welcome to RWI!

I noticed that this is your first time posting on RWI. You are welcome to introduce yourself in the new members area in the "New members say hi" sub section.

If you haven't already, please take some time to read the sticky threads in the new members area (in all subsections), as they contain lots of information for newcomers and, most importantly, our forum rules which you need to know, and of course ideally to follow, to get the best out of your experience on RWI!

A good starting point is this list of links to the most important RWI resources:

Also this please read this important sticky:

If you need further assistance, please feel free to contact me or @Feefo during your time as a newbie. That's what we are here for!

Enjoy the read. While you're at it rid of us those ridiculous red lines.

Thanks for the info. I actually did read that before my post. Out of curiosity, why do away with the lines? I think it can be kinda hard to tell bezel alignment from a photo, depending on the angle of the camera to the object. Having said that, I see that you have a ton of experience, does it look misaligned to you?

If it is difficult to see the alignment WITHOUT lines, then you will not see it in real life either. They are REPLICA watches. Furthermore, the lines at RWI are not liked (put these lines on gen watches and you will also see something find that doesn't suit you). Since you've posted in the flame-free zone, I'll spare myself saying what I personally think of these lines of identification. greetings r4m

Is it reasonable to ask to see the watch on a timegrapher?...Yes most if not all TD's i believe will show a video of the watch on a timegrapher please keep in mind that this a snapshot in time type deal it could very well appear to be fine from the TD then anything can happen during shipping etc and it changes.

Is it reasonable to ask to see a picture of the movement?...Depends on TD i believe some or most will accommodate the request while others may not, so you should discuss with any potential TD you are thinking about purchasing from if this is something important to you.

If I would like some advice on whether or not the bezel alignment would be considered acceptable to most, where in the forum would it be best to post?...It shouldnt matter to "most" it should only matter to you as you are the one wearing it. posting here in the flame free zone or the rolex subsection would be your best bet.

There is no way anyone can say as noone can know the angle at which the picture was taken or the angle of the watch which is why most people would say its a complete waste of time to be drawing lines. If this is such a big concern to you maybe try asking the TD?

You said his is your first rep try not to overthink just have fun with it.

You kind of answered the question yourself, it's hard to judge from a pic, the red lines won't help but to cast more doubts on what you perceive. If you can't see a misalignment without the lines but then see a micron discrepancy with the lines, what will it tell you? You still don't have a perfectly centered pic, so what is what? If you like what you see, go for it. If you have doubts, ask for another pic. But be mindful that expecting too much from a TD won't do you any good in your future relationship with him.

Okay, it's his first rep, give him a little break!

Timeographer is a normal Pic in QC. Movement is not unless you specifically ask for it. Your bezel looks good to me, that minor deviation is probably from the picture, but minor deviations do occur in reps and you can get most of them fixed if they bug you, but as said above, at wrist distance, a small deviation is hard to see.

Good luck, it looks great.
